Ok, so I've been doing intuitive f2l for about 6 months now. Everything was going well until I noticed my progress just flatline. So I decided to learn going slow and looking ahead. That worked pretty well, and my solves were smoother but not faster. I think it might have to do with how im inserting pairs. It feels slow, and although I see the pair instantly, but it takes a long time to insert. So I practiced and practiced, and its gotten better, but I'm still incredibly slow on F2l, (like 18 sec:fp). Any tips?

Oh and theres no way its my cube, it has to be me. (my cube pwns)

Seems a lot like one of "those" threads to me.

Anyway, there are basically 3 things it could be:

1. You're inserting pairs inefficiently. If this is the case, go to any of a number of sites with optimal F2L insertions and check to see if any is significantly shorter than what you do for that case

2. You're turning too slowly. This may just be you turning too slowly or it may be your cube. I thought my cube pwned until I tried someone else's. Everyone thinks their cube is the best but that's simply not true.

3. You're seeing the pair instantly but still hesitating while remembering how to solve it. If this is the case, try solving with a metronome to avoid pauses.

1. ok, ill do that

2. ok, i guess ill try turning faster.

3. ive done that. i can get up to 72 beats per minute with the metronome, but when solving...

and the reason this one is different is because ive tried pretty much everything. but i will learn most of the algs for the 41 cases. thanks anyway

If you practice a lot it should be less than 18 seconds. I think maybe you are doing longer f2l moves than needed. Look up some fingertricks and also I like to just practice going fast with f2l also. I think camcuber said that is how he practices. Eventually your f2l just drops down. About maybe a month ago my f2l was usually 12-14 secs and now its 10-12 secs which I consider a huge drop.

Post a video with the cube in the camera's front view. (like Badmephisto's and other Youtubers tutorials.) Then we can see any things you can improve.

This is so the camera is inbetween you and the cube. Time yourself though, so you have the conditions you would normally have.

video will be up soon, just let me get my camera, and find a way to do that angle correctly

3 things, (even though you're better than me), fingertricks, pauses and cube rotations. Try to use fingertricks more. Also, when you see a pair, make it and insert it blindfolded. Then try doing it without looking at the pair, and instead looking at the next pair. This gets rid of pauses, and allows you to do faster moves.

Watch this by Erik Akkersjilk. Goes through some quicker pairs, and also a few tips. Very handy for me.

omg, this is just what i needed. thanks for all the help.

ill practice on this

try the megaminx. after getting used to solving the megaminx it you will be able to lookahead alot better
