Hi, I started speedcubing in January 2012.
i've been averagimg 12 seconds for the past 2 months and I don't seem to be goimg anywhere
my solves just don't feel fluid anymore.
I've seen from other threads that indivual, purposeful practice is needed for specific steps when regular solving (which is what i have been doing almost every day) isn't enough.
My question is how exactly do I go about doing that?
Should I spend a day just drilling cross + 1
then spend a day focusing on F2L and so on?

What are some of the techniques you have employed?
Any input would be appreciated

Hey. I know you hear this all the time, but practice. Not everyone can have Feliks or PDF level improvement. For some people it just comes easier. Everyone is different. At the point you're at (which also happens to be where I'm at) I think the most important part is enjoying what youre doing. If you dont enjoy the solves anymore, there's no point. What I usually do is every month or so take a week off from 3x3 and do some other WCA puzzle. Not seriously, but just to get my mind off 3x3 so I can enjoy it more when I get back to it. You could even learn some new methods, but I wouldn't recommend using them, seeing as your times for 3x3 are already at the point where switching methods is a huge step back. (though if u find one that u really like, there's nothing stopping you
Tldr; have fun

No plz dont use this. Standard F2L, OLL, PLL can get you sub 9 easy.
... what? This is bad advice. Learning the easy cases for some of the easier subsets will help a lot. Standard CFOP does not let you get sub-9 easily. Learning other things will help. I don't think it's worth learning all the cases, but the easier ones are definitely worth knowing, especially VHLS, WV and COLL.

Get a new cube. If you've been using something fast like a Guangying, get something a little slower like an Aolong v2. Vice versa if you've been using something more controllable. The 'new-cube' effect has gotten me through several barriers.

Obviously a few easy algs here and there do help, but the post I responded to seemed like he wanted OP to learn all of those algs.
