Practice BLD memo; that’s really all you can do. You can also try to overall improve your technique via learning speed memorization, but the best way to get the skill to truly transfer over is by doing BLD memos.

Just do many many solves, that way you will get comfortable with the position of the letters (e.g. knowing right away that blue of the blue-orange edge is R and immidiately knowing where it goes). You probably spend a lot of those 7-10 min figuring out for each piece what letter it is and where it goes, so knowing that instantly saves a lot of time. Once you get around 1 min memo (or whatever feels right for you) you could start preparing letter pairs so you also won't have to think what word you will use for each pair.
