I'm sure many of us remember those old cubing websites from 2000's and early 2010's which included Java applets that illustrated how to perform various algorithms.
I'm kinda interested in making my own website that would teach how to solve the cube and more. I think it could be a pretty interesting alternative to making video tutorials (which are consistently very popular... I mean, JPerm's beginner tutorial has almost 100M views by now, wow!). On one hand, video tutorials can be more instructive, but on the other, they aren't interactive, which is why I think a website could be better.
So, I am looking for some interactive applets I could use for it. (idk if "applet" is still the right word... guess not, but that's what they are to me, lol.)
I've tried cubing.js first, and it handled itself really nicely, but I couldn't gray out exactly those stickers that I wanted, it only included presets for specific popular method steps. Next, I tried Roofpig, which was better in this regard, but the handling was worse (rotating with mouse too fast, always snaps back to default view), and it has a lot of visual glitches and bugs. Still, it's "good enough", so I've integrated it to my site. I also stumbled upon AnimCubeJS, but I don't like the fact that it can be directly manipulated with. Yes I know, that's a very hot take, but it's really annoying if the user wants to rotate the cube and turns a face/slice instead.
Are there any other alternatives for my specific requirements? Or... do these ones have any super duper hidden settings that I'm unaware of that could solve my problems?
