So I'm relatively new to speedcubing and I'm just about done learning full PLL. I've noticed that, at least on the site I've been using http://www.cubewhiz.com/pll.php, more often than not there's a different algorithm for a mirrored situation. For example, there are two completely different J perm algorithms and a few different G perms.
In an effort to cut down on how much I have to learn I've just been mirroring the algorithms on the left side for cases such as the J perms. Why is this not the norm? Is there a significant speed advantage to using your right hand for as much as possible?
