if i learned F2L intuitively can i still use it to solve a megaminx? Are there any good tutorials on solving a megaminx using f2l and learning the whole cube intuitively?

If you learned F2L intuitively you will have less problems solving a megaminxes F2L's than when you had learned F2L with algs.

Some F2L algs don't work as expected on a megaminx if you apply them blindly (especially those with half turns in them)

Other than F2L, and the first layer of a 3x3x3 I'm not all that great with intuition on cubes. That being said, I was actually able to solve a megaminx, up to the last layer, using pure intuition, and *not* using F2L. Just playing with it, seeing how the faces turn and how the pieces move relative to each other was enough to get me all the way to the last layer.

After that, I applied F2L to it, and it's pretty easy also. It's different than a 3x3x3, but you can figure it out. It's sort of like doing F2L with many faces of the megaminx being the "down side". First one face, then another, then another...

As for the last layer, if you leave a keyhole spot open, you can use that to intuitively solve the last layer edges completely. I wasn't able to do the last layer corners that way, but it's apparently possible.

The (very brief) directions here *might* help you. I wasn't able to figure it out completely from these, but they did help some:

Some people don't like this method, but I think it's nice for the last layer because it is rather simple:

If you find a truly intuitive method/guide for the megaminx, please post it here, as I'd enjoy seeing it.

Brian.
