During the first pass in an hour long MBLD, I have been figuring out things of the previous cube while I am tracing the current cube leading to less focus on the current cube.

I generally try to intuitively figure out in the previous traced cube,

  1. floating opportunities and option select to floating cases for both edges and corners,
  2. newer parity execution with setup,
  3. fancy 2e2e, 2e2e', 2c2c',
  4. different cycle break order to save moves,
  5. cancellations between comm,
  6. comm selection during exec ( if we know multiple algs for a 3-style UF/floating case),
  7. memo optimizations,
  8. story restructuring
  9. revising the sentence/story (I guess this is common knowledge in advanced MBLD where we can multi task memoing by having more bandwidth to consume memo and store in the long term)

Generally in the next passes, the remnant of the last cube thinking component decreases as the memo solidifies. My point being that as we learn more fancier stuff and more algs, the harder the first pass becomes (again subjective to our practice, and 3BLD proficiency which translates a lot to MBLD exec)
