Hi guys,

I have recently found the solved state for the Magic Chess sold by cube4you.
Previsously (since last Tuesday actually), I could solve it but it involved irregular moves. After some patience, I found a solution that only involved regular and nice and smart and beautiful and etc moves. :D
I am very happy with it since it is the first "magic puzzle" I solve on my own.

My best time is about 34 seconds. I would like to break 30 seconds with this puzzle.
Here is a video of my solution: http://www.gillesvdp.com/cube/docs/videos/Magic_Chess_37.07.wmv

Now I will describe my method here.
I actually found that in order to solve it easily using the very last flips you can see at the end of the video, all tiles have to be rotated by 180° iin comparison with the start position. So my solution is mainly composed of 2 steps, each one rotating each tile by 90°. When everything is rotated, I proceed to some flips to come to the solved state.

I know other people already found a solution but I never saw it.

Please leave me any comment if you have. :-)

Good question.

I know for sure that the starting position is the beginning position of a chess game.
As for the solved state, I have had the idea about his one by looking at the black towers (still in their corners).

Now I can see a position in which the white king is in the check position. Not sure if it is check mate though.
I will look into it. ;^-)

EDIT: nope, that other solution I saw is not correct since you have to preserve the general orientation of the pieces.
So for now, I only see one possible solution.

Great solve. What I find funny, though (and no offense at all!) is that you can have the dexterity and mind to solve this in 37 seconds but drop your timer right after. ;-)

Thanks :-)
I haven't done better than 34 until now :-( Anyway, that's not so bad I think. :D

Maybe I should put it on YouTube for compatibility purposes.
No ?

As I said, the longest part of the solution consists in rotating all tiles by 180 ° (and don't tell me that by turning the entire puzzle by 180° it will be done :p That doesn't work. :D).

So if you know a special trick for that...you can surely hit below 30 seconds.

Hy, Its an old topic but I think that I have found another resolution faster. I'm not a very expert in speedsolve a magic (2 sec for classic and 6sec for master) but for chess, without training and with one or two mistake I do 26 sec.

I'll training me and do a video low and fast to show you my solution
