[NAR] Lucas Etter - 7.52 3x3x3 Official Average

He's 12 (it was in Cyo's 3x3 US Nationals Finals video). Faz was 15 when he broke WR Average. Lucas has been cubing for about 3 years, and Faz had been cubing for about a year and two-thirds (from April 2008 to January 2010). I can't think of anyone younger than 12 who has gotten world class (I mean, even Faz at 15 is pretty young), so you might be right. If only we still had age stats on the WCA page, huh?
https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/p.php?i=2006ORLA01 was 10 when he became the world champion

inb4 it gets DNFed and not NAR average

Does scramble orientation matter?

Here is the first solve:
8.19. x R2 D2 R2 U R2 B2 L2 F2 R2 D B' F' D' U2 R U B2 R' D' L'

x L' U D' F R' D2
y' U R' U' R U' R' U R
U' y' U' R U' R2 U R
U' R U' R' U2 L' U' L
y' U' R' U2 R U' R' U' R U' R' U R
r U R' U R U' R' U R U2 r'
R2 F2 R U2 R U2 R' F R U R' U' R' F R2 U

I don't have time to do the rest. The second solve is scrambled with orange on U and White on F btw.

Well R2 F2 R2 B R2 D2 L2 U2 R2 F D' U' F' B2 R B D2 R' F' L' isn't the same as R2 D2 R2 U R2 B2 L2 F2 R2 D B' F' D' U2 R U B2 R' D' L', so I would say it's a misscramble. And misscrambles get DNFs. However, it isn't really my decision, so I don't know what will happen... but it's a possibility.

Are people just scrambling with a random orientation then? I thought the first one was an accident, because it was only an x away from the correct scrambling orientation, but orange/white can't be an accident.

With them scrambling in the wrong orientation it's clear they weren't checking if scrambles were correct.

For consistency sake, all finals solves should be checked for correct/incorrect scrambles as it seems the scrambles were not very competent at following regulations

Scrambler for finals was Chris, fastest person in the semis but not finals. I'm sure the finals were ok.

Until they stop letting video evidence count, that would be unfair to Akash Rupela(his 3 x 3 single was turned into a DNF), Drew Brads(his WR pyraminx average became a non WR), and probably countless other cubers that have gotten screwed over

I don't want to be mean or harsh or anything, but if it was scrambled in the wrong orientation, then the solve should be DNF. It wasn't scrambled properly, and all the other times that people got a mis-scramble in comp, the solves were disqualified. Sure, it was just the wrong orientation, but his solve would have been different if it wasn't, just like the other DNFed mis-scrambles.

I feel like maybe it would be better if we had some move limit for this. Like if the cube was misscrambled and the solve was less than X moves than it can be retroactively DNFed.

It's just annoying that Lucas is facing the possibility of a DNF when the solve was 71 moves, it's not like it was an easy solve.

Well, that rule definitely shouldn't be set in stone because if it was one move away they could just the sexy move 13 times and they wouldn't be allowed to DNF it.

Daniel and I scrambled finals. I know for a fact every single cube I scrambled was correct. I triple checked every single one.
