Faz was 15 when he broke WR Average.
He was 14 when he broke it originally.

https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/p.php?i=2006ORLA01 was 10 when he became the world championHe's 12 (it was in Cyo's 3x3 US Nationals Finals video). Faz was 15 when he broke WR Average. Lucas has been cubing for about 3 years, and Faz had been cubing for about a year and two-thirds (from April 2008 to January 2010). I can't think of anyone younger than 12 who has gotten world class (I mean, even Faz at 15 is pretty young), so you might be right. If only we still had age stats on the WCA page, huh?
inb4 it gets DNFed and not NAR average
Well R2 F2 R2 B R2 D2 L2 U2 R2 F D' U' F' B2 R B D2 R' F' L' isn't the same as R2 D2 R2 U R2 B2 L2 F2 R2 D B' F' D' U2 R U B2 R' D' L', so I would say it's a misscramble. And misscrambles get DNFs. However, it isn't really my decision, so I don't know what will happen... but it's a possibility.Does scramble orientation matter?
Are people just scrambling with a random orientation then? I thought the first one was an accident, because it was only an x away from the correct scrambling orientation, but orange/white can't be an accident. The second solve is scrambled with orange on U and White on F btw.
With them scrambling in the wrong orientation it's clear they weren't checking if scrambles were correct.
For consistency sake, all finals solves should be checked for correct/incorrect scrambles as it seems the scrambles were not very competent at following regulations
oh no this is bad
I feel like maybe it would be better if we had some move limit for this. Like if the cube was misscrambled and the solve was less than X moves than it can be retroactively DNFed.
It's just annoying that Lucas is facing the possibility of a DNF when the solve was 71 moves, it's not like it was an easy solve.
Well, that rule definitely shouldn't be set in stone because if it was one move away they could just the sexy move 13 times and they wouldn't be allowed to DNF it.

confirmed, chris is not a nubDaniel and I scrambled finals. I know for a fact every single cube I scrambled was correct. I triple checked every single one.
1. They wouldn't know if it was a misscramble until AFTER the solve.
2. *12 times.
3. THAT WOULD MAKE THEIR TIME SLOWER
