Lubix Viscosity?

There are plenty of sellers on eBay selling shock oil or diff oil in whatever viscosity you want. Plenty in the UK so shipping is cheap.
You don't have to buy in bulk.
I got some 100000wt diff oil and it works a treat.

I never once said that yo can't find cheaper alternatives. I said to not exploit his product. This is no different than purchasing a V7 KO (like the X-Cube 7 that even ripped off the V-Cube packaging).

Cheaper alternatives: Maru Lube, Shock Fluid, etc. I understand the benefit of using those cheaper alternatives. Trust me, I do it too. I just think it's a bit wrong to openly discuss his "secret weight" just so you can exploit it.

Again: If you find something that works well for you, please share it with others. I don't think Rowe was the first to use Shock Oil, but it's popularity has definitely caught on since.

Does he have a patent for his lubix? V-cube has it for their mechanism. What lubix is doing (Maybe) is just repackaging some other shock oil. That is like repackaging a v-cube and selling it for more.

His secret weight? Now we have something to find out. Maru lube is Liquid not even thick.

But it IS different. V-Cubes have patents for their designs and it is against the law to buy KOs. Verdes has worked hard to come up with the V-7 design and he deserves to not have his designs copied (though, I personally don't care about this and would definitely buy KOs if they're of better quality than the V-Cubes). While Donovan definitely deserves to earn profit from repackaging, promoting and selling them, and I thank him for coming up with Lubix, we are not obliged to buy from him. (Yes, I do know that a lot of people appreciate Donovan's contribution to the community and would continue purchasing from him to support him, but the point I'm trying to make is that it is totally not wrong for us to look for cheaper alternatives)

The ones you listed aren't really alternatives, they're different kinds of lubes that have different results. What we're looking for is a high viscosity silicone oil that is similar to Lubix. Also, KFC has their own secret ingredient in making their chickens, doesn't mean it's wrong for us to try and make our chicken taste like KFC.
The thing is if you guys didn't have good relations with Donovan you wouldn't hesitate at all with finding a cheaper alternative. It is not wrong at all to support him, but it is also not wrong to try to save some money.

I agree with everything in this statement.

I bet we shouldn't be discussing workarounds for Donovan's product. If you like Lubix that much, stop being cheap and cough up the money for it.

On a side note: If you like stuff significantly thinner than Lubix, 30wt Team Associated Shock Fluid seems to work well for me.

I have Lubix, but the point of my first post was to find a shock oil with the same viscosity as lubix so I could compare it in 2 brand new DIY guhongs (tensions are the same) to tell you if you're better off with going with shock oil.

Lubix has a pretty low viscosity right? I opened up my GuHong Ultimate and touched it and it was pretty sticky. I don't actually have a tube though, so I've never seen it by itself.

I found a high viscosity silicone lubricant called "Silub AV", it's a Mexican product and it's around US$3 for 28 g (around an ounce). I have never used Lubix but from what I've heard it's very similar. Very thick and sticky, and works great. I bought it in an electronics store.

Ok, for you guys, I wasted all my lubix just to find out the viscosity and it is around 30,000wt to 50,000wt. Some guy told me it was this but I didn't believe him so I tested it out and it was true! It was thicker than my 30K wt diff oil so I know it is more than 30K wt but the 30K wielded the same result!

<3 this is what I have been waiting for since lubix came out!

Amos: You do make a good point, especially with the analogy involving the chicken. The one difference I could think of with the chicken is that you cook the chicken, not buy a product that's a knock off of KFC chicken. You do make a good point about the patents too, really a lot of your post consists of good points. Although, I'm pretty sure a different kind of lube that gives a different result is an alternative. Really we can go pull definitions and have a huge technicality debate (that isn't even related to this thread), but I think we can both agree that if the purpose is to lubricate your cube, listing a different kind of lube is quite a valid alternative. I realize this thread specified the viscosity of Lubix, but the purpose of Lubix is to lubricate cubes. Also, it's not like he made a thread stating he wants a high viscosity silicone oil that works well, he made it clear he wants the exact viscosity of Lubix so that he can buy the same product without paying for Donovan's price. I understand if he says "Wow, I just tried this 10,000 cs differential oil, and it works better than 30wt shock oil" or something similar.

Cool Frog: It's people like you that I say it's wrong. You won't even support Lubix until you find a cheaper alternative. You are so cheap about what is supposedly a quality product, that you don't even want to support him. That is what gets to me. EnterPseudonym is right, you must have missed a lot of the conversation about it when it first game out.

EnterPseudonym: Did you miss the word "oil" in my post? Not to mention the reason I put was to show they weren't my words.

Who said i didn't buy their product? It just always seemed overpriced to me.
I did read the thread of when he proposed the "Official lubricant"

My apologies, I did make an assumption there. I felt like since you said "I've been waiting for this since the day Lubix came out" that you had no intentions of supporting the product at all. So, did you buy it?
