So, I have been cubing for about a little over 2 months, basically since black Friday.

I started with corners first then switch to Fridrich about a month ago. I have learned intuitive F2L and 4LLL. My average is around 52ish usually.

My solve breakdown is something like: (Full solve, meaning no skips or easy cross, etc)
3-5sec cross
28-32sec F2L
15-20sec LL

So basically, I am wondering why my LL is so bad. All the algorithms in 4LLL are muscle memory for me and I execute fast, or so it seems to me. Should I grind at those LL algs to increase speed? Or should I work more on F2L?

Basically, I do about 4 alg in 15-20sec including recognition and any cube rotations needed.

Thanks

Learn 1 look PLL, definitely going to help, it brought my averages down a lot. But just from looking, you need to work on your F2L more than your LL. Watch badmephisto's guide for it. It slows you down at first, but after about a week, you'll be really fast at it.

You have a very fast cross :P

Your F2L is not so bad relative to your other solve components, but it is always the area from which anyone can shave off the most time (because you solve many pieces with few restrictions and fast fingertricks). That will come with practice, and perhaps polishing your slower cases with algorithms you can look up on the net.

As for your LL. Your execution time will improve with practice as you develop more finger dexterity. Practice your algorithms individually to see how fast you can get them. Also, it isn't that much work to turn that 4LLL into a 3LLL by learning full PLL. I used to hit averages as low as 18 seconds when I still used a 3LLL.

Hope this helps, good luck :)

Ditto the the other byu and elimes. F2L, especially the intuitive type, just comes with practice. I just have one small suggestion for learning PLL and eventually OLL. DO NOT just get one set of algs and learn those. Get as many sets as you can and pick the ones you like. There are tons of great sites out there. I was able to find at least 4 algs for each PLL case, granted some of them were just ridiculous, but they were algs nonetheless.

I usually try to pick out the 2-gen (R U) algs if I can.

And I will try to learn the 21 PLL cases I guess. Will a video help to figure out my true needs? I do F2L intuitively and each slot takes me about 7-8 moves at most, sometimes as little as 3 if its a trigger obviously.

My times are similar to yours, f2l is slightly faster but the cross and LL is very slow. I really don't like learning algs (I only know 11 :P). What really improved my f2l times was going slow and looking ahead, and also inserting the pairs with eyes closed once I recognized a familiar case.

Ya, I practice doing F2L with my eyes closed all the time

Not even for familiar cases, I just look at where the corner is and where the edge is for about 3 sec and then I do it without looking. I have a problem moving from pair to pair but once I find it its like 2-3sec to get it in place. How should I practice look ahead?

Does reduction mean to reduce the cube down to a 3x3 stage then solve? If so anyone else think this will help my look ahead?

I may start doing my 4x4 more if it does.
