Learning F2L...

You should try learning f2l intuitively then learn the algs of the some cases that seem difficult to you. You can check out Badmephisto's youtube channel, he has videos on learning intuitive f2l --> http://www.youtube.com/user/badmephisto

As for memorizing algs look at what happens to the pieces during the alg. I've always memorized algs by the finger movements and the visual of what happens to the pieces.

I don't recommend you learn the (any) algs until after you have understood and learnt intuitive fridrich f2l.
'badmephisto' on youtube has some very good and instructive tutorials on fridrich f2l.
In terms of learning algorithms, the more you learn the easier it gets. I used to memorise them as 'take this pair out, bring it down to this layer, mess it around, put it back in etc', but now its a less conscious process.

I recommend you learn 4 look last layer if you don't know it already, while working on learning and understanding intuitive f2l.
www.badmephisto.com has some good algorithms, but i recommend you search around - what one person likes may not be best for you.

EDIT:
lol@number of badmephisto recommendations and nearly simultaneous posting.
