If you look closely, he made a turn during inspection of his first solve. I don't know if this was intentional or just because of picking up the cube (or dodecahedron), but if that solve does get DNF'ed, the average would be 30.89 and only WR2.
If that solve was just a +2, pretty sure it would still be WR, but not sub-30. If the delegates find out, would they remove the WR?
Yeah well, he still could've seen what happens after that move (although being a top megaminxer like him he could definitely look-ahead 1 move so it's not really an advantage)he turned it back, there is no competitive advantage there, and it most likely was accidental
I watched the video in slo-mo and it did seem like the turn was accidental. But I can't tell weather he passed the limit. To close to tell. We need another angle.Upon further inspection, it looks like he accidentally started to make a turn, realized about halfway through the turn, and moved it back to the original position. The camera's position makes it hard to tell if it went past the limit, like Jack314 said, but from what I saw I think the time should remain valid until we know if it truly did go more than halfway.
36 degrees. There is no doubt he turned it in inspection then turned it back. What we need to do, is figure if it is over 45 degrees to figure out if it should be DNFed
i see that it is like 37 or something, a bit higher, but imo should still be counted anyway.Ooh! It's so close, I can't tell. It looks to be just under 36 degrees, but I could be wrong. It is just so hard to tell
i see that it is like 37 or something, a bit higher, but imo should still be counted anyway.
If it went over 36 degrees, it shouldn't count. But I hope it didn't go over, that would be sadi see that it is like 37 or something, a bit higher, but imo should still be counted anyway.
well the WCA delegate approved it and it's still up on their site. https://forum.worldcubeassociation.org/t/wr-leandro-martin-lopez-29-27-megaminx-average/21868/3“It violates regulations, but that doesn’t matter”
The allowable limit is zero. It's not 45 degrees, it's not 36 degrees, it's 0.It's hard to tell for certain that it was turned more than the allowable limit.
Our mission is to have more competitions in more countries with more people and more fun, under fair and equal conditions.
WCA Mission Statement
Do you have any examples of incidents like this happening before?Well, I am happy that he got a WR, but it left me unsatisfied. Similiar incidents happened a lot in the past and every time the competitor got a DNF. May I know what is the reasoning behind this decision? Shouldn't they treat all people the same?
