hi,
i saw at cubewhiz.com techniques to solve the last layer,
then i get the top color fixed, but the edges and corners are sometimes not,
what should i do?

Thanks

I have 2 algorythms for you: first: corners
R' F R' B2 R F' R' B2 R2
Run this algorythm with the two "right" corners facing away from you (twice the same color) If there are no "good" corners run it once, turn the U layer clockwise and run it again

and edges:
L2 U F' B L2 B' F U L2
run this with the 3 edges you want to cycle pointing to the left (you might have to do this twice, and if no edge is positioned right you have to run the alg, turn the U layer once and do it again

You don't need to learn them all right away. Just learn a few simple ones, and repeat or combine them to achieve what you need. Like for OLL's, learn a simple one (or 2) that flips 2 edges (and may or may not have a side effect on corners), then a simple OLL that twists corners, and a simple PLL that moves 3 edges, and a simple PLL that moves 3 corners. That would be enough to solve the final layer of the cube. You might watch Tyson's video at Rubiks.com, http://www.rubiks.com/Academy/Tyson Video.aspx
When you want to improve your speed by a few seconds, eventually learn all the PLLs, then enough OLL algorithms to do OLL in 2 stages, then finally learn all the OLLs. You might want to stick with several easy stages for awhile on the last layer -- until you can do your first two layers quickly.

My last layer stages that I used from 1980 to 2008 involved permuting and orienting the corners first, then finishing the edges. I converted to Fridrich last layer methods a year ago. I still don't know all the OLLs, so many times I do OLL in 2 stages.

You might want to look at this website, it's categorized PLLs into categories:

Cubestation PLL

I would start by learning U, A, T, J, and R Permutations (in that order), as I find them the most useful. Save E and G for last, they are very difficult. Also you might want to check out the PLL guide I made.

-See his 2-Look OLL and 2-Look PLL videos to learn some of the key OLL's and PLL's.
-Also, see his Tips/Memorization videos. There's 1 for OLLs (2 actually, but 1 is quite old), and 1 for PLLs.

I recommend all of the videos though, lol. But for what you're asking for, using the 4 (or 5) that I already mentioned.

I like to use the Petrus method (http://lar5.com/cube/)for the top layer. It is very easy to learn the basic algorithms and you only need to memorize a few. It may not be very fast but at least it's easy. Does anyone know how fast you can expect to do the top layer with a few basic Petrus algs ?
