Space:
The final frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its 5-year mission…
The USS Enterprise was investigating the chemical composition and rate of chemical reactions in the Horsehead Nebula in Orion when Ms. Uhura reported, "Captain, a Klingon spaceship has appeared before us. It has been hiding in the dark nebula. It appears to be non-hostile and is requesting a communications connection."
Captain Kirk replied, "OK, connect the line."
Gowron's voice then came over:
"Captain Kirk, what a coincidence to meet you here. I'm not interested in combat with you today, but this is a good opportunity to compete in Klock3 with you.
Captain Kirk replied, "Okay, let's do it," and whispered to Ms. Uhura to call Worf onto the deck.
Gowron then said, "Let's begin the competition. It's a best-of-five series. Press and hold the Scramble button on Klock3 three times. You should get the same Scramble as ours. Now, let's start the first round to see who will win based on FMC."
And so the competition began…
After both teams had solved, the result was a draw after 14 moves. The second, third, fourth, and fifth rounds all ended in draws!
Gowron said, "Oh, oh. This match is a draw. We'll have to postpone the rest until next time. By the way, a fellow countryman named Worf found the solution to this puzzle, and at the last championship, the competitors were able to drastically reduce the number of moves they had to solve. You guys also are pretty good at it. After that, we all searched for Worf, but for some reason, we still haven't found him. Even though there was a huge prize money to be won..."
Worf, who had come to the deck, replied with a laugh, "My fellow countryman Gowron, actually, that Worf is me. Because I'm Klingon, I was able to go to the championship venue and teach the competitors the solution without them knowing. Do I have the right to receive the prize money?"
Gowron said, "I see! So now it's you guys who've come to Qo'noS. You've got me," and continued, "I can't give you the prize money, but instead I'll give you brand-new Klock4, the latest version of Klock. I'll beam it in now, so take it and enjoy it to the fullest," and then the communication went dead.
Captain Kirk, Spock, and Worf went to the teleportation room and found Klock4, as shown below, had arrived.
<Klock4 Details>
Changes from the previous version Klock3:
1. Each clock face is divided into 4 equal parts and has 4 color indicators instead of numbers.
2. When you turn the left or right mover dial, if the "Double speed button" is turned off, all indicators will rotate in steps of 30 degrees (1/12 of a full circle), and if it is turned on, the dark blue indicators will rotate in steps of 60 degrees (double speed, 1/6 of a full circle).
3. The problem is solved when all indicators are aligned to the same color at the 12 o'clock position.
Note: The 4 colors are painted on the indicator within a 90-degree range, and the indicator rotates in 30-degree increments, so the same color can be at the 12 o'clock position at 3 different angles. For example, the 3 indicators in the image below all have "red" at the 12 o'clock position.
Captain Kirk solemnly handed the Klock4 puzzle to Worf, saying, "This is yours. It cannot compare to the prize money
, but it is a gift from your countrymen, made in your homeland, so it will become your treasure."
Worf thanked the captain and accepted it.
