Hey i've been cubing for a while now ~ 7 moths but i mostly focus on 3x3 and somewhat 2x2. I average sub-20 3x3 and sub-7 2x2 however for 4x4 im like 3 min. I just got into 4x4 so i suck but can u plz offer advice anyhow.
Thanks
Btw i dont know how to do the last 2 edges or parity and i had double parity so yea the cube looks unfinished but considering what i can do its finished.
I use yau btw

YOUTUBE IS F***ED UP AND IT SPED UP THE VIDEO DONT KNOW WHY SORRY

Wow, you turn pretty fast! :)

Seriously though, I have no clue about the Yau method. However, for reduction, when pairing the last 2 edges, set both of them adjacent to each other (so same color is on both edge pairs), do Uw y' R F' U R' F Uw' and they will be paired.

Last two edge alg: Rw U' R U R' F R F' Rw'. The main thing you have to do is look ahead and track where pieces are and where they go.

Just look up the standard PLL parity and look up the pure flip OLL alg.

You know it got sped up right... or was that sarcasm
Also what do i do when i accidentaly make a pair or the corresponding edge piece is like it screws up the edge pairing
x y
y x

You should never run into this case, unless you get extremely lucky, where all of the other edges have been paired up and you are left with only these 2 sets of edges, in FL and FR, as in your diagram.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

4x4 is the most lookahead oriented cube IMO. In 2x2 it's all looking into the solve and prediction. 3x3 doesn't have many pieces to keep track of. And then the larger the cubes the higher the chance of having two+ edge pieces together when you get to pairing so deciding which edge to start on and which on to do next is easy but in 4x4 you could have pieces all the way across the cube and the quick glance it takes on other cubes doest work sometimes. At least for me. You'll drop the most time if you can improve edge pairing. Yea all parts of your solve should be better if you're spending three or four seconds scanning the cube it will kill your average.

I use two pairing from a video on Yau's YouTube channel as I slice I try to see what edge will come up as I pair those two edges I look for the others counterpart. That's basic look ahead of course but when you start to pick a piece and find it's partner you improve quickly.
