A terrific result. She was clearly on form, as she also did a 5.45 in the Second Round of the competition, and of course the one-handed 3x3 NR of 8.30 in the first round.

Let's not differentiate between male and female in cubing. It's not relevant. Otherwise people are gonna say: She's fast... for a girl. And that's not appropriate at all.

I disagree. There are FAR fewer female cubers. This means there will be fewer female cube solves. This means there will be less lucky solves. So, by this fact alone, the fastest women's times will be 'slower' than the fastest male times, not because the men are faster, but because the men have 'more luck' because there are more of them. The 3.47 male world record was ridiculously lucky (even if only by the fact that the solver is otherwise not in the top-10); and if Juliette had a similar solve she could probably beat it.

So I would congratulate her on the female WR, and no, that does not imply girls are in any way slower. Fewer girls = less lucky solves.
