MBLD PB: 29/30 57:54.92 [38:03.68]
I'm quite glad that I managed to sub-hour this by over two minutes. The DNF was an inverse comm again: I did AI instead of IA. I was probably still a bit confused during the execution of that cube, because I thought I lost that cube somehow. For some reason I thought there were 5 cubes left, but there really only were 4, so the cube wasn't where I thought it was supposed to be.

A more in depth analysis of each of my last 3 MBLD attempts:

Total time spent rearranging cubes during memorization: 0:22 + 0:09 + 0:12 + 0:11 = 0:54

Observations:

  • First 20 seconds of the attempt were wasted.
  • Memo 9-16 took too long.
  • Consistent memo/retrace pace (except for memo 9-16)
  • 3BLD cube ‘over-safetied’: memo took longer than the average total memo time for cubes 17-24 (1:02.25)
  • Exec speed around 40 seconds per cube, meaning around 4 seconds per alg. Seems like I can improve on that.
  • DNF cause: did PM WU instead of WU PM (it wasn't having forgotten JX as I thought before)

Total time spent rearranging cubes during memorization: 0:14 + 0:06 + 0:14 + 0:10 = 0:44

Observations:

  • First 12 seconds of the attempt were wasted.
  • Memo 9-16 took too long again.
  • Slower memo pace than the previous attempt.
  • Panicked during memo 25-29 resulting in rushed memo and accidentally doing a mental review of those instead of a retrace, which is quite a bit slower. 2/3 of the over-the-hour DNFs were in this pack.
  • 3BLD cube still way over-safetied.
  • 3 seconds/cube slower exec than the previous attempt.
  • DNF cause 1: Inverse comm (MX instead of XM)
  • DNF cause 2: Didn't break into edge flip while having parity, resulting in a 2flip of edges.
  • DNF cause 3: Inverse comm (QD instead of DQ)

Exec38:0457:5519:5139.70
Total time spent rearranging cubes during memo: 0:02 + 0:03 + 0:03 + 0:04 = 0:12

Observations:

  • I made it a point not to waste any time rearranging cubes anymore. I don’t arrange all cubes before memorizing anymore, but only grab 8-pack once I need them, and keep them in their place throughout the attempt, rather than placing the 8-pack I am memorizing at the moment closer to me first. This ended up saving over half a minute compared to the previous attempts.
  • Again, the memo for 9-16 took way too long. My theory is that after memorizing and reviewing the first 8-pack, I think I’m well on schedule, so I slow down a bit (i.e. a lot). Then, for the cubes after that, I need to hurry again, because being slow costs a lot of time. Because of that, the third 8-pack takes less time per cube than the second, but more than the first because of fatigue. The last few cubes are short term anyway so I barely spend any time on those (compared to the first 24 cubes anyway).
  • I tried not over-safetying the 3BLD cube this time, but I ended up totally not being confident in my memo and retrace it a couple of times anyway. Still, I somehow forgot one letter in edge memo and had to guess (I was doubting between R or E). Luckily I guessed correctly.
  • Execution back to sub 40. Could have been 38.4 s/cube, because I spent 39 seconds ‘looking’ for a cube that I didn’t actually lose. Some of my cubes are super tight and need a lot of force to be turned, so I’m going to loosen those up a bit before the next attempt.
  • Panicked during the last 5 cubes again so I used a very strange order of memo and reviews
  • DNF cause: inverse comm (AI instead of IA)
Very short summary: Using a good cube placement system saved a nice amount of time, and I need to memorize my second 8pack faster. Most of my DNFs are inverse comms, so I gotta stop doing that.

Next attempt will probably 31 cubes, because I find having an odd number of cubes in the last pack before the 3BLD cube annoying, not sure why.

Had exam week this week, so haven't had time for any MBLD attempts except for today. And the attempt I did today was probably the weirdest attempt I've done. I attempted 31 cubes, and got a 28/31. Somehow, though, the time was 52:50, while I didn't even expect to get sub hour. What makes it even weirder is that I had to leave the attempt twice during memorization, which was very distracting, and obviously, time consuming. There was also a lot of background noise during this attempt, so idk how I managed to keep up this pace.
DNF causes:
- Mistraced corners on a cube resulting in it being off by 2e2c (J perm)
- I accidentally did the memo for the next cube on this cube, so it ended up completely scrambled. Luckily I realised it before executing the next cube so I didn't mess up the whole attempt by skipping a room. Maybe I should consider putting the cubes back exactly where they came from after executing them so I can fix mistakes like these after catching them, but idk if it's worth it because it doesn't happen all that often (this was the first time) and that only increases the risk of accidentally grabbing the wrong cube altogether
- Inverse comm, of course. I can't do an attempt without doing an inverse comm at least once I think :)

Because of the insane time management during this attempt, I'm seriously considering just only doing 36 cube attempts from now on until I can comfortably sub hour that.

I just tried 36 cubes, and the final time was only 1:00.08! That is both funny (missed out on sub hour by 9 seconds) and super unexpected. I was certain that I would need at least the whole month of february to be able to do sub hour 36 cubes attempts, and I'm almost there already! The accuracy rate wasn't quite where I want it yet, but it definitely wasn't terrible either, with 29/36 (none solved over the hour btw). I DNFed two cubes because of a skipped room, again, so that's definitely a thing I need to focus on in future attempts. Then there were two DNF's because I simply couldn't recall part of the memo, which is the first time that that happened in quite a while. I can't figure out what the other 3 DNFs were because I accidentally blocked the camera with some of the solved cubes during exec. Based on my previous attempts they were probably inverse comms haha

ik snap niet hoe je zulke insane tijd improvement hebt met zo weinig attemps
maar iig lekker bezig!
Nee ik ook niet lol, die laatste 2 attempts gingen echt opeens super smooth
May I kindly remind that it would be nice to most members if you could speak in English. No offense btw, plz don’t blast me with mehs.
I don't think the Dutch posts in this thread are of immense value to most people on this forum (I mean, this entire thread, like all progression threads, isn't, I mainly just have this to read back every now and then because that is fun). However, if you really want to understand even those messages, you could just copy paste into google translate, or if that's too hard, there is always the option to learn Dutch (way easier, trust me, it didn't cost me any effort)

Ok, it’s just that I am going through a lot atm and when I try to make a post I get so many bad reactions it really just makes me depressed .

Good try, when is your next 36 cube attempt?

This thursday I'll do another one.

Fair, but you predicted that your message was prone to being 'blasted with mehs', so if you don't want bad reactions, maybe don't make posts for which you can predict people will react badly to them?

Man I just want to share my opinion without getting blasted my mehs. If I wanted to be in a toxic community I would be on Twitter.

Did another 36 cubes attempt. I had a lot of trouble concentrating during this attempt, so I expected to have like half the cubes unsolved, but it ended up still being 29/36 again. The time management was slightly worse than the previous attempt, which was to be expected because of the very poor concentration, making the total time 1:01:56.94. 3 of the 29 unsolved cubes were solved over the hour, so this would have only been 16 points in comp haha. Btw, almost all DNFs were in the last 8 pack of exec (so the first of memo), my brain refused to recall anything in that pack, even though I took a minute longer on memorizing it than the previous attempt. For now, I'll just keep doing 36 cubes attempts until I get something good.

Also, yesterday I made a spreadsheet (see signature) with an analysis of all my MBLD attempts, stats like exec/cube etc.

somewhere between 30-35, my memo sucks tho :( don't know why
Maybe you should try an attempt with fewer reviews and see if that really changes the success rate? You said you do a review of everything at the end, I used to do that too, but when I tried an attempt without that last complete review it didn't really change anything except how long memo took, so now I just never do it.

I will probably try that later when I go for more cubes after Hoorn, for now my biggest problem is that I am very slow with making images that stick, once I have the images in my head I can review fast.

Let's gooooo, 35/36 in 1:04.06. I'm not sure how many I solved under the hour, because my phone stopped recording 2 minutes into exec, but I had two cubes for which I couldn't recall corners, so I saved those for last. I spent a long long time recalling those, so I'm guessing 33/36 under the hour. The rest of the exec was really smooth.
The only DNF was a 2-twist of the UFR and UBR corners.

Oh and also I did some OH two days ago because I didn't have a sub 10 yet and I got a 9.80 so that's cool

pretty sure I have heard Rowe Hessler say almost the exact same thing ✨
