Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

The mental breakdown comp in march will most likely have 5BLD on saturday, but probably 4BLD on sunday. Since all 5BLD solves technically include a 4BLD solve, I'll change the 4BLD ao1000 to bigBLD ao1000 and count both 4BLD and 5BLD solves. 5BLD takes longer anyway, so I guess it's not cheating😂
I'll still have the solves in seperate sessions, of course.

Tommy recently uploaded a video of a low 4 minute 5BLD solve with ~2:30 memo. My 5BLD memo is sub 2:30 most of the time, so my exec is terribly slow then, because I'm still far from getting low 4s. I suppose 4:30 total is a good first goal.

Not as fast at it yet as I am with flip but maybe I'll take 7simul seriously now that the first pin push isn't killing my solves anymore.
 
@Jorian Meeuse Any tips for 3BLD edges? I have a hard time coming up with sounds for the letter H, and sometimes others, but it's usually H and another I can't remember. I'm asking cause I did a 3BLD solve where a letter pair was "LH" and I was lost. I've replaced some letters, such as X for SH and Q -> CH, but I can't find anything anyone uses for H. Any help is appreciated.

You should make a letter pair list if you are having difficulty coming up with words/sounds...Definitely helps and will drop your memo time significantly.

If H is second in a letter pair during audio memo, and the first letter was a consonant, I use the Dutch diphthong 'ui' for it, a sound which doesn't exist in English. So LH would be 'lui', which, conveniently, is a Dutch word as well (meaning lazy).

Other things I replace:
Q -> ST

W when second in pair after consonant -> AU, another Dutch diphthong, similar to the English 'ow' in 'cow'

When a vowel is followed by H I just use the vowel and ignore the H.

I don't think I replace anything else. Probably not as helpful, because Dutch sounds can be tricky for non-natives, but it is what it is

My 7-simul session is now at 124 solves. My accuracy has worsened a little, but is still at standing at a really solid 108/124 (87%). I've had 4 sub 6 solves (fastest 5.65), and my fastest ao5 is 6.48. I'm quickly approaching sub 7 global, since my best ao25 is 7.02.

Fast 7-simul solves are so satisfying, I can't imagine how fun clock must be if you average like sub 5 or something

Edit: I looked at the history of clock NR's in the Netherlands, and until March 11th 2023, the NR avg was 7.24, which is just hilarious to me (it's 4.74 now and there are 7 people with a sub 6 avg)

it became a bit boring after sub 5 tbh, but the improvement was fun.
