To answer that:
1. Being able to reason with him was useless. I tried talking to him in DMS, I tried talking to him normally first, and he would not stop. Short of banning him, I had to give him a slap in the face with a big dose of reality.
2. I do acknowledge that I can get heated sometimes. That's why I put multiple of my picks for mods, as I recognize I'm not the most fit for this job when I'm here alongside more mature people.
 
Keep in mind everyone that this role would most likely require you to be active for a long time. You can't just stop checking the forums when you inevitably stop cubing.

I would like to think i would be good for this role, (i have read the rules extensively) but I have no idea if i would be good in practise, and like I said above, will i stop being on this forum? If it comes to it that you need a moderator i would be happy to apply but I think i'm probably the bottom of the barrel when it comes to Moderator picks. @Bingus Ringus McDingus 's list was a good one.

1. I can partially agree to that, he was being very unreasonable to everyone, but at the same time you aren't supposed to feed the trolls. Just report them and wait for a mod to take care of it. A troll most likely wants attention in any form and giving them that is not the right action, simply reporting them is the best course of action.
2. I can agree that your list was a pretty good choice of members for a potential fit too.
 
My opinion for best mods:

@abunickabhi (very active, mature, and one of the older members on the SS forums)
@OtaMota (mature, active)
@DuckubingCuber347 (mature, active, and can always chip in with something funny)

There are many more people who I also believe would be great fits for mods, such as @qwr, @Jorian Meeuse, and more, but these are my top three :)

However, when "compared others", OtaMota is much more mature than a lot of us, myself included. I would trust him to keep this site running smoothly and to keep any arguments in check.
 
Probably would have applied in 2019 when I was active here but there's just so much brainrot on the forums these days I don't think I could manage reading anything without deleting at least 75% of the posts.

Also, for those of you who didn't know, abhi used to be a mod for a little. I don't think he'd a great return candidate given how much nonsense he's prone to.

Anyway, good luck to the mod team to find someone who can help out and keep this forum in check.

I don't feel as if I am immature or anything, but I am not active enough to consider applying. I have some good recommendations though:
@abunickabhi kinda obvious, he'd be great
@AJT17 a very mature person, good at handling things
@NebraskanSpeedsolver has had a lot of beef w/ some members, but overall a good person, and he's active

I imagine Discord would be quite different compared to something like the SS forums, a website made in the mid 00s, and its a whole website, compared to one discord server

I don’t believe I saw anyone mention @xyzzy. Not sure how often he checks the forums since he doesn’t have last seen on, but he’s a very serious and respectable member of our community. If he does get into an argument (not that often) then he presents his side well and without getting angered. He’s my two cents for a new mod
