[Unofficial] Is Yish really a liar?

4d) Cube puzzles must be scrambled with the white (or the lightest colour) face on top and green (or the darkest connecting face) on the front.

What is the point of this? I mean, it shouldn't matter as people will always solve using their preferred colour scheme. Of course if you aren't using Fridrich or similar, then using a particular colour may not work for the method. Also, if you are colour neutral, then this is useless. I don't know, but I think it's a bit silly....

I think it's meant to give everyone the same (or almost) cube configuration

aww well better luck next time XP (i don't think i ever would have met you though because i didn't go to US open as it was the day after school ended for me and i didn't want to have to travel that far the day after)

and Dene its important to do in competition because they want it = opportunity like it wouldn't be fair if one person who uses white cross get a 4 move xcross and another person who also uses white cross has the same scramble but rotated so its different color. But its not a rule for unofficial solving so the argument doesn't really matter.

Wait! We haven't fully explained Lucas' video yet. I hadn't used CCT before, so I didn't know. The "Reset" function generates a new scramble, even throwing out imported scrambles. So how did he get his prepared Cube Explorer scramble in there? Easy.

He clicks "Reset" and the confirmation window pops up, offering a yes/no choice. Lucas confirms, right? I don't think so. I think he had a second CCT window in the background with the prepared scramble, and simply switched to that window. At least that's how I'd do it.

Edit: Now I'm sure that's how he did it. The bottom of the task switch window is visible for a short moment at the top of the video.

Where's that IRC channel?

Stefan!
Alright, that's what I did. And I thought it would have been much more obvious that the same scramble is visible at the end...

However, how is this inappropriate?
Has anyone ever told you that it's impossible to cheat without cheating?

I havn't been told that kind of nonsense. ;)

Yea, it was pretty obvious, to me at least. After the confirmation window, you can clearly see the entire scramble change...
Dude. That's the *correct* behaviour.

And I thought it would have been much more obvious that the same scramble is visible at the end...
Hmm. You could be a bit more specific. I just checked it, and the scramble does change. So first I had no idea what you're talking about. Then I realized you don't mean the printed scramble but the extra window showing how the scrambled cube should look like, which does stay the same. I assume this was intentional to give us a hint?

Like said above, I hadn't used CCT before. So I didn't notice it because I was not aware that CCT displays the next scramble right when you stop the timer. Also, I had my evidence already.

Waaaiiit! We *still* haven't fully explained Lucas' video yet! Cube Explorer rarely ever produces 25 moves scrambles even if you allow it to, and for Lucas' scrambled state, I didn't manage to make CE produce a 25 moves scramble. So how did Lucas do it?

Scramble: U B2 R2 U R2 D' B2 D2 B L F2 L2 D' U' L U2 B R' B R2 L2 U2 F' B2 R
Solution: R' D2 F R' ...

The easiest way of course is to simply extend a CE scramble to 25 moves and prepend the inverse of the appended moves to the solution. And the scramble here ends with R and the solution starts with R'. But I didn't manage to make CE produce a scramble for that, either.

Here's how I would do it, and I claim Lucas did it this way. It's easy to make CE generate a 19 moves scramble. So prepend six random moves to your solution, then make CE generate a 19 moves scramble for that, then "shift" those six moves from the start of the solution to the end of the scramble. I tried that, and CE did find a 19 moves scramble matching Lucas' first 19 scramble moves. On the other hand, why would he consciously include the above-mentioned cancelation?

Lucas?
