is this a speed cubing techique?

hey fellas..im sorta new to cubing.. i still kinda suck compared to some people...heh anyway..when i first started i went on rubiks site and followed the solution they have posted. here http://www.rubiks.com/solving-center/3x3_guide/

i cant really find anyone talking/reviewing about it

my questions is....is this technique what speedcubers use but they just move the cube really fast and think fast about it? or should i look to other techniques?

Typical beginner method. Nobody really fast uses that.

Yeah like stefan said a beginners method. But dont switch to an more advanced method before you mastered the beginners one.

Probably CFOP (Cross First two layers Orientation of the last layer permutation of the last layer)

But as i said dont learn this before you feel secure with the beginners method.

i feel pretty good with the beginner method for sure...as far as speed in turning the cube...i still suck really bad..heh...i guess practice makes perfect?

I personaly found it hard to go straight to CFOP. I did it in this order: keyhole, 2 look PLL and 2 look OLL, then Fridrich F2L, then finaly normal PLL and OLL

This video by BadMephisto explains everything a beginner needs to know to get into speedcubing - also the rest of his videos are really good too.
Also you may want to thing about getting a nice cube, the current most popular ones are Dayan Guhong, Sheng En F2, and Alpha 5 (A-V)
