Is there any algorithms that can fix this?

Hi, I'm new here. I am a real amateur "cuber." Amateur like my record is a 2:03:56. But I'm getting better. I learned from "dan brown" on youtube which I'm sure you've seen or heard of. I don't know what the method is called. Below is something i run into from time to time. When I'm solving the second level. Is there any algorithm to quickly get it back up to the 3rd level or switch it around? Sorry if its a bad pic it was kinda hard to get a good one.

Thanks,
Noogums

edit: The only thing i could think of is using the opposite algorithm that i used to get it there in the first place, then using the right one to get it in the right spot. Its works ok. What do you think? (btw the algs. im talking about are U R Ui Ri Ui Fi U F and Ui Li U L U F Ui Fi)

If you get that situation, it's because you inserted the edge using the wrong algorithm, and the edge wasn't in the right place to have the right algorithm performed.

What you're doing to fix it is right, and although it's faster to learn a new algorithm, this works w/o learning anything new.

But then again, just watch what you do more carefully, and this won't ever happen again.

I use: R, U, R', U2, R, U2, R', U, F', U, F
Can you check that algorithm, I think that last U is supposed to be U'?

If I get this case on my last slot, I do something like: R U R' U' (taking pair out) R U2 R' (breaking up) U F' U' (pairing up) F2 R' F' R (insertion). That's just personal preference and is probably not the fastest (garmon's looks faster). But if you use the keyhole method (or really if you get this case anytime before you have all the first layer corners solved) I'd suggest using R U R' U' F' U F, with D moves at the beginning and end depending on where your free corner is

Well not necessarily. That could be the case most of the time, but I know I get that case often without doing an incorrect algorithm. If you solve layer-by-layer, and do it with no errors, the chances of your last slot ending this way (disregarding the possibilities of getting it by chance on the first three) is 1/10. Even if you do full F2L, there is still a chance that any of your slots will be oriented this way before actually trying to solve anything ([1/3*8*2*8]*4 = 1.04%). Most people will never be able to fully avoid cases like this without some sort of unnecessarily draining look ahead.

Edit: I realize now that the 1/10 chances for a case like this on your last slot only applies for the keyhole method, but the chances of getting this case on any slot during a standard LBL is still probably higher than 10% (that number is actually 4/16 = 25%)

The last one was a U'. The way I use is 11 moves, (which is probably not the least) but it is easy to do, 2-3 seconds, and if you do insert all of the edges correctly, you will only have to do this a very low percentage of the time.

The method is call Fridrich method.

The method is call Fridrich method.

Please don't say that. The only thing similar in these two methods is the first 7-8 moves (Actually the first moves are also completely different for the most part). The last thing we need is more people using the dan brown method thinking that its the method people are setting world records with.

He's a beginner. Why don't we stop throwing specific case algs at him?

What you should do here is simply insert any other random edge into the slot, then reinsert the edge so that it's oriented properly. Use the 2 algorithms you already know.

Thats what I was thinking, but thats not the fridrich mentality now is it?

He's asking for an algorithm. So maybe we should give him one.
