So explain why people DON'T use white as their cross color.

To get faster recognition for the last layer, that's why I use yellow for cross

i prefer white on LL, it looks a little nicer/cleaner
and i also do Black cross i have a white cube with yellow switched with black... recognition is pretty good!
and to the OP, of course you should switch, you can do whatever you like. i like the scheme too, and was even considering making a cube with it. go for it
