I'm getting sick and tired of the childish behaviour here.

But I'm probably the only one that thinks this way, and has been here as long as I have.

Are you serious? you haven't even been here for a year. plenty of others have been here for almost 3... Don't go thinking you are a forum veteran when you have little experience of speedsolving in its "glory days", when almost every thread had a purpose and generated a good discussion.

I wish I could have been there. That sounds wonderful... :(

Me too...

I agree with Monkeydude on the overdoing of his flaming. Did he deserve a little bit? Sure. Does he deserve as much as he gets? Not a chance. Honestly Chris you picked a bad time to join the forums. I don't think you are really responsible for half the flaming that is surrounding you to answer Brunson's question. I think your reputation on this forum is just bad now, however personally I have nothing against you.

I have something against him*, but that is besides the point. The problem is that many n00bs follow more senior members for their opinions, and then there are many people who hate one person, just because the others are too lazy to decide for themselves.

*@those who were wondering: I dislike monkeydude because he bashed the mefferts 4x4.

@monkeydude: I'm still mad at you.

SlaughterMelon:
You're blowing it out of perspective. If there were to be a section for only certain members, they would by far make up the minority. There would surely not be more than 30 people in that group, and there are hundreds of regular posters on these forums.

I'm really curious on how you will make the selection for the 'protected' forum area...
I don't think it managable to do so, without turning the forum into a graveyard of hurt members, who were not chosen, even though they think they deserve it.

Too bad for them. They can cry alone at night for all I care. If they aren't contributing valuable information to the forum then they won't be needed. I was thinking more along the lines of:
Dan Cohen
Michael Gottlieb
Chris Hardwick
Stefan Pochmann

And so on.

What would be the criteria by which you would choose these people? Would you have limits on how many new people you would allow in to this special forum? Who would make the decision on who goes in? I think it's a good idea, but needs a lot of consideration.

Pandaman: No thanks
endless something: Unlikely.
Faenaro: I don't see why it has to be a big deal. It isn't an "elite" crew. It's just a source of valuable information. Who are the members that most consistently supply valuable information?

What everyone is trying to get at is that not everyone will agree on who constantly provides valuable information.

Beginners like people who provide beginner information, and couldn't care less about people who give good advice to experts.

And experts won't care about people who give good beginner info, because it is useless to them.

And therefore, unless we can somehow get 99% of the people to agree that Group X is all valuable members supplying valuable information, it won't be possible to make a group that everyone likes.

And there is always bound to be jealousy, etc to tear the forums apart when that happens.

Just my opinion,
~Chris

It's called the puzzle theory forum. It's not like beginners look or post in there anyway.

You forgot Johannes, MrCage, Guusrs, Mirek, Lucas...

Oh so true. Puzzle theory was made just for that same reason.

If you really think that the list I gave was comprehensive then you are more stupid than I would have thought of you.
The problem with the puzzle theory section is that it doesn't cover enough information. I was thinking that the subforum would involve things from all branches of cubing. Guides, tips, etc.

LOL. I assume this is another joke post?

Erm... No?

This is one simple question that EVERYONE must know.(testing your knowledge)

What is a Forum?

P.S:no cheating, no looking at FAQ, no googling it. JUST USE YOUR BRAIN!!

Without looking up anything, just what my opinion is:

A "forum" in internet terms (not talking about Roman buildings, wasn't there one called the forum?) is a website meant for discussion about a specialized topic.

Erm... No?

You've told so many people you were messing around after posts like those, that people aren't sure what to think anymore. My general view is that you're screwy, and that's fine. It doesn't bother me, and I don't take anything you say personally. You are Dene, and I accept you. xD

I'm sure he was waiting on the edge of his seat until you accepted him /sarcasam

LOL @ monkeydude well I want to add my idea to the original topic, people on this forum still bother me when I don't say a word to them. But once you get backed into a corner you gotta start pushing back and now is where I begin.

No you do not. Violence is never the answer.
