Uh, I'm not too much of a gamer (I am becoming one though :P), but I just wanted to ask about graphics cards (yes, by gamer, I mean PC gamer). So I just ordered a Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT (1 GB, woohoo!) so I can play 3 games I am dying to play (Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, and FEAR 2), but I'm not sure if it will be good enough.

I looked up the requirements for Oblivion and it says that it will accept the following cards:

NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 series
NVIDIA GeForce FX series

I am assuming from this that the 9500 GT will not make it work...but I am still not sure (since it usually says that these are recommended cards).

Can anyone tell me?

P.S. - I really don't wanna pay $200+ just to play these...(if I must, I will save up and buy one even eventually)

if the 6200 is enough, the 9500 is enough for sure ;)

Basically the first number is the series (9 series in your case) (200 series for 2xx cards)
The higher the series number, the newer it is.

The 2nd number is the speed of the card, higher is faster.
So a 8800 is older but faster then a 9500.

I currently use a 8600 and it runs assassin's creed and oblivion fine (and first F.E.A.R. but I bet the graphics improved on the 2nd version...)

Yes. As people said it will work. However, you may not be able to play some of the games on highest graphics settings. It is better to get a better card now to 'future proof' yourself or else you may have to upgrade to a better card again for games coming out in the near future. That's my opinion. x]

Psh i have a lab-top and I can not donwload The cards. And im like a three year gamer, And i have a game I really want but I need a better Vision card. Anyone have any ideas where I can get a Vision Card for Windows 2000 PC LAbTop, enof to play spore (Both)

The favorite video card I've owned is the Sapphire Radeon HD Vapor-x 2gb GDDR5 card. Decent price too, only $200-$250 in some places.

What do you mean?
Nobody can download video cards (or any hardware for that matter).

For laptops you just need a different type of card.
If you ask someone in a computer store they should be able to tell you what video cards they got for laptops.
For nvidia, the card numbering works the same. Not sure about radeon as I've never had a radeon video card.

I was talking to some people on FEAR multi, and they were saying that the 9600GT was a lot better than the 9500GT. I did some research and the performance in CoD4 was almost twice as better. And it's only $20 more :D I guess I'll just use the 9500 for now and when I have enough money I'll get the 9600.

@Musje: I think he means drivers. Also, thanks you for that info about the numbers, it's very helpful!

@leeho: There is actually a thing on the 9600's page on the Nvidia website that says "Future-proof Technology" xD
