Hey there! F'prime here. Its been a while. anyway, my summer vacation is starting soon, which means I'll be back to doing cubing again! But I also want to pursue something and try to achieve something in the spare 2-3 months I have. So I decided to make a cube trainer! Now, I know there are a lot of cube trainers out there but most of them are running on apps that you can download on your phone and basically give you algorithms for PLL and OLL. So I decided to make a personal cubing coach/trainer that you can put on your desk, no app installation required! Here is what I am planning. On chess.com, there was a feature called Game Analysis that allows you to look at your game and try to learn something from it. What I'm thinking of doing is that, when you connect a smart cube to our PCC (personal cubing coach) and do a solve on it, our PCC will tell us our mistakes and how we can fix them with some AI. It could also help you learn new algorithms as well. I'll be doing it on a Raspberry Pi 5 and a microcontroller (for extra features). If anyone has some experience with Arduino or Raspberry Pi, hit me up.

the ai would have to know beginner/intermediate/advanced things that you could do, and also know when you have fixed a mistake or made a mistake.

Yes thats what I'm planning to do. It will be quite hard, but it will hopefully work out in the end. Right now I'm trying to theorize on how a smart cube sends signals to an app, but first I'll be needing a smart cube.

Hi Fprime.

Good luck with your electronics project.

Sounds interesting yo!

There are no mistakes to a solve. You'd have to enter the perfect solve from each scramble in order to make that happen, it won't, especially for methods that are color neutral or even basic Roux. Plus, a concept like this needs a preferred front and down starting point. Color neutral or even general neutral folks don't stand a chance. While I like the concept, can we please just all go back to 2015, use a 3x3 that works for our hands, and learn new things?! Goddammit I hate technology.

Thanks for the insight. The concept for the PCC, in my head, is to help you improve step by step. I believe the "perfect solve" is a bit impossible as there is no wrong or right way into solving a cube, just the mistakes that make you go slower. Rather than taking that approach, we can use some AI that knows what you are averaging and helps you overcome mistakes in your solve to help you get a better average. As for the color neutral and basic Roux issue, we can do some adjustments.

do you have any experience with statistical modeling or building apps
I have made a car that uses Machine Learning to detect signs and do an action. For example, if there is a U-turn sign in front of it, it will do a U-turn. It wasn't that accurate since I used a very small camera with nor good resolution or refresh rate.

I want it to be a quick process, so i guess ao15 to ao25. I don't know. I'll get everything I need by the 10-20th of June (you might be wondering about that delay, my exams end on the 5th and i might order it then, it will probably take a week for it to come so yeah).
I think a quiz would be better because it will be quick and a ao25 might not capture all the algorithms they know

Not all of them are, so I found out that it's a bit tricky to connect a script to the smart cube, but some people have done it.
Oh I just saw, there is a GoCube Unity plugin by Particula which looks promising for your concept, but doing it on a raspi and a microcontroller complicates it quite a bit.
