Is there a difference between Hoya on the 7x7x7 and Hoya7? If so, what is it?
I use Hoya on all big cubes. Not very fast at it, but I enjoy it and I'm about equal to what I was able to do with freeslice.

Currently using hoya on 5x5+ (Yau on 4x4 now)
Might switch 5x5 to Yau though, although I don't get why Yau is preferred for 5x5, since hoya is more efficient 5x5+
Like Mike said, is there a difference between hoya 7x7 and hoya7 ?
Is it a variant of hoya optimised solely for 7x7 ?

There is no difference, or special optimization for Hoya7.
I use it and it has a high movecount to pair up the cross edges.
