How to start learning Fridrich?

I plan on just doing an ao1000 with each color repeatedly. Then I want to just practice each color till its around 23 ish.

edit:
avg of 5000 is that really neccisary?? to the op practcie abit more first until your sub 2 aleast and the learn fsl(intuitive) but you can learn 2loll and 2lpll whenevr you want

I already know full PLL and I learn 2 OLL algs a day. Theres not much to do besides practice. I already know F2L optimal

That's doubtful

Getting to CN isn't about training each cross individually. Although you'll have consistent times it's more important to feel comfortable with every color. If you red cross is a second slower than the rest but you're not afraid to use it in a solve then that's good because eventually they'll all even out. I say I'm CN because I can get good times on any cross but in reality my white is still faster by a pinch.

I also noticed it takes me longer to warm up my other cross colors.

CN FTW. 2 move blue cross U' F' B' D' B U B2 F' R' B2 R' L2 D' L U2 D2 B2 F2 D2 L2 F2 L2 D L2 U

Sub-15 doesn't make you an expert. Highly knowledgable to say the least but I'm sure there are more optimal solutions for some cases. I wouldn't find them but I'm sure they're not perfect. Plus to know the optimal algorithm doesn't mean you use it in solves from all angles.

Edit: There's not way to resolve something like this. I'm sure both you and your brother have really well executed F2Ls but to say that it's optimal is a stretch.

By optimal F2L, he means he doesn't use overly redundant crap when solving an F2L pair. It isn't optimal but it isn't inoptimal. I don't exactly know what the best word would be. But he uses almost exactly what I use for F2L. I only differ from Eric in lookahead/TPS/some tricks I use.

I did an Ao100 of a different color everyday starting with white on Sunday, then orange, then blue, then yellow, then red, then green. That way I was never solving with the same F2L from one day to the next. I mean the colors of the pairs would be different like I would never do orange and then red. On Saturdays I did a CN Ao100. I found that after the first three days my times were much faster even with colors I hadn't practiced. It's all in the thread I linked above.

blakedacuber was referring to the OP (Original Poster) not you.

He averages nearly three minutes. He doesn't need to learn anything new at all. Just practice until you get to around 60-80 seconds. Then look into intuitive F2L or a 4-look Last Layer. Badmephisto has great tutorials that you can learn from on youtube.

I agree.

OP: The reason many people believe that you should average around a minute before you learn Fridrich is because if you average a minute using LBL than you have had a respectable amount of time getting familiarized with the cube and the transition from LBL to Fridrich will be easier than just jumping into Fridrich. I have a tutorial on Fridrich, Badmephisto has a tutorial, pretty much all over Youtube there are good tutorials on Fridrich.

I would wait until I got around 1 minute before I jumped into learning Fridrich. As for the F2L aspect of Fridrich, once you get around 2 min. you can start learning intuitive F2L. I would hold off on the algorithms though until you average under a min.

Right now, I know you probably have, and will hear this a lot...

JUST PRACTICE :tu

Yea it's the worst part of the transition. You have to retrain you brain to look for patterns instead of stickers. That's the only difference between white solvers and CN solvers. My first non-white Ao100 sucked, the next days was three seconds faster or something, the day after that was sub-30. The fundamentals come quickly with brute force but fine tuning it to full CN will take more than a few Ao100s

The biggest thing when going through the transition is your mindset. If you're having really crappy solves switch to a different puzzle. When you get really good times leave a comment for the cross color(if you're using qqTimer). A positive attitude makes such a difference it's insane.

To learn the algs, just do THE SAME alg again and again and again. Dont do a new alg, untill you know the first by heart.

And make sure you review it later in the day, and before/after learning a new alg. I'm doing full PLL currently, and I find that I start forgetting previous algs and have to re-review them when I start learning new ones... maybe I didn't know them as well as I should have in the first place, but regularly reviewing previous algs is a good idea.

I can get 1:30 using a beginner method and have only been cubig for a few weeks on and off.
People say that one should try to get below 1min using a beginner method before looking at more advanced methods....
