What would solving without a white cross do for you? How would it be advantageous in any way?

Do you mean colour neutrality?

I'm not quite sure what you mean but the most common method (CFOP) starts with a cross (though it can be any colour not just white).

Otherwise you could try other methods like Roux, ZZ and Petrus
