How to Rotate One Center by 90 or 180 degrees?

But if you quote a post with a quote in it, the inner quote will disappear. So you have to make the nested quotes yourself. I think they wanted to prevent the gigantic quote trees that people would occasionally create.

To the OP: Rotating one centre 90 degrees is impossible. For logo alignment, I use [M, E' L E] and [M, E' L' E] to twist the U centre clockwise and not-so-clockwise, respectively.
For a 180-degree rotation of the U centre, I use (U' R U' R')5.

To turn a center 90 degrees clockwise do the u perm (#1) and counter clockwise do the other u perm (#2) and 180 degrees do the n perm or the t perm. :-) Your welcome!

Sorry I was not very disciptive about my post. Do the u perm 3 times to turn it clockwise and the other u perm 3 times to turn it counter clockwise. And do the n perm to turn the center 180 degrees or thed t perm. Once more, your welcome!

Yeah, 33 moves to do the same job as a very simple commutator (see the previous posts). Great suggestion.

And you don't even mention the fact that only the RU U-perm works for that.

Rotating centers on 3x3x3

ive searched with little luck, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to rotate centers on a 3x3x3 like if there was a picture or design or something, I have a few cubes that have different things on them, like a soduko cube, a snake design, and such, how do I rotate the centers. thanks all

two T perms in a row will rotate the U face centre 180 degrees. you cant rotate a single face 90 degrees, you will find there are a pair of centres that both need to rotate.

Yes you can. Try a single T-perm or just "U" :)
But you can't without side-effects ;)

I use T-perms too; my fix for two 90° centers:
T-perm on first center
M slice to bring the other center to U
T-perm
undo M slice.

Here is another one for rotating the top centers alone with 180 degrees. I call it the "URL" algorithm. :)

(U R L U2 L' R')2

Or a fingertrick-friendly version of it:

(U' R' L' U2 L R)2

For turning two centers with 90 degrees (clockwise for one, counterclockwise for the other) I recommend you to experimenting with U M E M' U' M E' M'-like commutators (this one turns the U face CW and left face CCW).

EDIT: similarly, you can turn two centers with 180 degrees as well, like U2 M E M' U2 M E' M'.

cool thanks all, messing with what you guys gave me, a standard T-perm like from old pochman works with doing M slices along with U or U' to bring another center to the top and t perm again worked after playing with it for a few mins thanks.
