Hello,
So, the other day I took apart my 5x5 Rubiks to shave some plastic. It was easy to put it together, up until the last middle edge /w outer edges. I ended up breaking a center corner doing so, but did get the pieces back in. Today, I got the new piece. What is the best way going about putting it in? If anyone knows a good way to do this without putting much strain on the pieces, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Remove the surrounding edge-wings (medium pieces)
Remove the surrounding center-corners (small pieces)
Remove the surrounding center-edges (small pieces)
Remove the surrounding edge-centers (large pieces)

Remove what is left of the broken corner piece

Put everything back in reverse order. Take care of orientation and permutation of every non-center piece!

This is basically what I did when I put it back together. Getting that last center edge in was what broke it. So I should put the edge center in before the outer edges? The outer edges supposed to hook in below the center edge, right? Thanks

Hey Gilles,
Thanks a lot for making the video. I have will have to try that tomorrow (it is 0:33 right now). I will keep you updated on my progress. Your 5x5 seemed very nice and loose.

Actually it is not. (Ask Arnaud :p)

All you have to do is to make the edge pop a bit, just enough to make it possible to add a center corner but make sure you do not "open" too much otherwise you risk popping a lot more pieces.
