[Help Thread] How many cube rotation during the F2L is best?

Better yet, start doing edge control while doing f2l. Learn rotationless solving, use empty slots more. Having no rotations in f2l seems very doable but I would say try to aim for 2 rotations or anywhere between 1-3. I do lots of rotations and sometimes it is inefficient.

While I was away, I made a video doing "optimal" aka zero rotation f2l.

So, there's another version of it, do d and d' moves, which is MUCH easier and faster. Please do make a video of it also :)

Haha probably not. I have to start the daily OLL series now, so maybe in future :)

That's just keyhole isn't it? It's easier but a lot less efficient than normal intuitive F2L
Generally speaking, keyhole is good for some cases but for most f2l's, it is inefficient.

Sometimes rotating is faster, for example F U' F' U F U F' is not as fast as y' R U' R' U R U R'

Rotations sometimes make F2L faster, but optimally, you get a rotationless F2L.
If everything else is the same, a solve with 0 rotations is obviously going to be faster than a solve with more rotations.
If you say that 1-2 rotations is optimal, that means that you would rather have a solve with 1-2 rotations than a solve that you never have to rotate.
