How I got into speed-cubing.

I got my first rubik's cube when I was 11 (I'm 17 now). I learned to solve it from a tutorial back then. But I just kept solving it over and over until I got faster and faster. I actually regretted learning 3x3x3 from a tutorial so much that I made my own method later.

But about a year ago I really started getting into speed-cubing and started watching videos, looking up algorithms and learning f2l. But mainly the last few months I've really started practicing a lot.

Now I average just below 40s. And I am in the process of learning full PLL.
(my steps are currently: cross, f2l, 2look oll, mix of pll and 2 look pll)

I'm wondering if I should learn Roux? Since I've put so much time in CFOP already. But is seems like an attractive method although I don't want to learn all the CMLL algs. I think I should at least give it a try.

Other twisty puzzles

For all of the other twisty puzzles I got I tried to figure out my own method.

I got the skewb around 3 years ago. I figured out how to solve it by discovering the sledge hammer and looking at the cube to see what it does. I never really got into speed-solving it (for more than a 2 weeks) although at some point I was sub-20 (I don't know how fast that is for a skewb).

2 years ago I got a pyraminx. This was my favorite puzzle for a long time. I the method I found was a mix of key hole and last-4-edges (bases on sledge hammers). I actually got really into speedsolving it with that method and I ended up combining slege hammers to make l4e algs. Although I haven't practiced for about a month I still average around 13s.

In the last 2 years I got a 4x4x4, a 2x2x2, an ultimate skewb (skewb shape mod) and an egg-cube. I have made my own methods for all of them (4x4x4 is just paring up the centers & edges first and than 3x3x3, 2x2x2 is just the corners part of my corners first method, ultimate skewb is like a skewb with a few parities). But I'm still working on the egg cube because I'm focussing on 3x3x3 atm and I don't really like the egg cube (because of the terrible recognition).

My own 3x3x3 method
-I would solve the white corners first
-Orient the yellow corners with the sune (I think I could have come up with the sune myself)
-permute the yellow corners with my own alg (based on commutators)
-solve the yellow and white edges intuitively
-permute the other edges with halve turns and M slices
-orient the other edges with my own alg (base on cummutators)

(tell me if you would like a more in depth description of any of my methods)

Hardware
-A rukib's 2x2x2
-A rubik's 3x3x3
-A v-cube 4x4x4
-A moyo pyraminx
-An unknown skewb
-An unknown utltimate skewb
-An unknown egg cube
(I don't know many of these because I got them as gifts)

But there is an order on the way for a:
-MoFangJiaoShi 2x2x2
-YJ Guanlong 3x3x3
-YuXin kylin cube 5x5x5
-ShengShou 2x2 Megaminx
-ShengShou Aurora Megaminx
-ShengShou 4-layer Pyraminx

Other hobbies

I also watch a lot of youtube, play games,...

But as you might not expect I also make some games (really small indies)
for example I made this game https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-jam/rate/158968 with a friend for the game makers toolkit 48-hour game jam.

Btw my native langue is Dutch so their will be a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes.

Wonder what I should learn next altough I think I'll follow this guide: https://www.speedsolving.com/forum/threads/how-to-get-faster-using-the-fridrich-cfop-method.6085/

Is there anything I forgot to say? You want to ask? You want to tell me? This is supposed to make me meet people after all.

It's always nice to see people coming up with their own methods for solving puzzles. Welcome!
