I just got an Eastsheen 2x2x2 today, and I much say that it feels like total crap. Some sides are perfectly loose, and other are stiff and make scarping sounds whenever you spin it. It can't cut corners at all and it locks up so much.

What should I try? I heard you don't need to lube these, but this thing is just terrible.

How do I lube a 2x2 without the little straw attachment?

I searched youtube and all the tutorials required a small straw that comes with the lube, but mine doesn't include one.

One way is to disassemble your 2x2, but I would advise against that because they are rather easy to break. Try to find a coffee straw, I think that can fit in the hole for the silicone spray.

You could maybe try that screw-spring mod for it that Huskyomega has on youtube. You need to take it apart though. I only broke off three tabs when I took mine apart, and if you coat the little grooves with some sort of putty or something, you don't need the tabs to put the pieces back on.

Eastsheen 2x2x2 Help

Recently, I was being an idiot and I forced my 2x2x2 apart. By this I mean I popped the 2x2 hidden 'edge' pieces (sliders) off (If any of you have seen PestVic's tutorial on how to assemble a 2x2, you'll know what I'm talking about). I don't have a screw spring structure, but one of the would be screws (plastic screw like object) came out. I glued it back in, and everything is functional. However, it is SUPER loose. I can do U5 on it pretty easily. Obviously, it overspins a lot, so this causes lock ups.

I haven't been able to diagnose the reason to why it's so loose. I have all the pieces, none of them are broken (not even any tabs) so I'm confused. If this has happened to any of you, or you think you have a possible solution, (even if it sounds obvious, I may not have tried it yet) please post. Thanks

U5? I pretty much do U28 everytime I touch it. Bothers me though. So yeah, if anyone has a solution, I'd be interested aswell.

PS: I did no alterations to it.

Well, mine wasn't like this before.
I don't think so at least. I just fixed it after a few weeks of having it broken, so I'll ask my friend to see his and compare. Maybe it actually is normal...

I've spring modded 3 2x2's now and am learning how to make them tight or loose. My guess would be that when you glued the plastic rivet back in, it didn't go in as far. Maybe the broken part is still in there keeping it from going in. This leaves one center really loose. If you can't get the rivet back out, maybe you could try putting a small shim under the head of the rivet between the rivet head and the center piece to take up the extra clearance.

I don't really think the rivet is broken, in clicks into place, it just came out if I dropped it or something. Well, I'll see anyway. So, should I just shove a bit of paper in there or what? I'm not really sure what a shim is.

Oh, I thought it had broken. I don't have one apart that I can look at but I seem to remember that the 3 rivets have to click in a certain way where they sort of interlock. If you look at the center of the core you can see the ends of them. See if one of the centers seems to have more looseness than the others. Then see if that rivet is in all the way. Or spring mod it. :)

Ok, thanks a lot.
I'll look into springs, that might just cure all of my problems.
Or just buy a new one, as I was thinking of getting a Megaminx sometime soon.
