Hi

I just recorded my fastest time of 25.81 seconds and uploaded it here... I request you to watch my video and please give me feedback on how to get faster...

I use full fridrich method, with cross on bottom. Sometimes 2-look OLL and always 1-look PLL..
I've been practicing fridrich method for two months now and i average close to 32 seconds...

Thanks in advance and happy holidays

Definitely f2l - you are doing Fridrich pairs I assume. Make sure you can carry out each pair without having to look at the pieces, so you can try and find the next pair immediately. You don't need OLLs until you are sub-20.

I am currently using a storebought Rubik's brand cube and the tiles/stickers are EXTREMELY slippery... As for look ahead, I'm still an F2L n00b and I really don't understand what to look ahead for or even how to... I'll upload my average solve in a couple of days... So, for now how do I continue?

I would suggest finding a F2L pair, then solving it behind your back so you can't look at iT. Then find another pair, and solve it behind your back again. When you can do this 100% you should be able to NOT look at the pieces you are solving, and instead look at the cube to try and find a different pair.

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll practice that method the whole of tomorrow and I'll let you guys know how it goes...
Also, will buying a DIY kit reduce my speed? Does it really make THAT much of a difference?

I still use a storebought (be it seriously sanded and a year old) and get 20second averages, but I think a DIY will drop MY average to about 16-17. It's a lot at high speeds.

As for look ahead, I'm still an F2L n00b and I really don't understand what to look ahead for or even how to...

When you see your two pieces, be able to solve them without looking at them, and you 'look-ahead' to your next case.
You search for other corners and edges to determine what pair you're going to work with next. You can also solve one pair in a different way to help out your next pair, depending on what cases you have. It's all about being strategic.

And Look: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=badmephisto&view=videos

then solving it behind your back so you can't look at iT. Then find another pair, and solve it behind your back again.

Or close your close your eyes, behind-the-back cubing isn't comfortable.

Well, it depends on how well you adjust it. Most likely you will drop a few seconds and after adjusting the tension, lubing the right way, and getting adjusted to it yourself.
Your storebought works amazing, for a storebought; but I think in the long run, a great DIY will reek benefits compared to storeboughts (you'll see when you visit the channel I linked you to).

Uhh this is off topic (great vid btw) but you said "close your" twice :p

I'll remember that at the Austin Spring in February if you compete in BLD.

DUDE THERES GOING TO BE A COMP AT AUSTIN!!!! oh my F(*&(& gawd.... ill be there! omfg! hopefully ill be sub 20/30 by then....

On Topic: There's actually not much else to add here until Suhas posts if he's improving and what he thinks of the given advice, so until then... *moves on*

Thanks a LOT for all the help... The funny thing is that i learnt everything i know about Fridrich method from badmephisto!!! He IS the greatest teacher on youtube... Should i start looking into F2L algoritms now or just practice?

I tried this the whole of today, and I was able to insert F2L pairs with my eyes closed with ease... But, when I tried doing it with my eyes open, I just COULD NOT track other F2L pairs... The more I tried not to look at the pair I'm solving, the more I tend to look at it...

Can someone help me?!??

Thanks and happy Christmas eve,
Suhas

Back in the past, this trick helped me go from sub-30 to sub-22 (and inconsistent sub-20) in just a couple of days of practice.

First, pick out the corner and edge that you will solve, and find the F2L slot they will go into. Then, imagine the finger-motions or the algorithm you will use to slot them. BUT don't do anything yet.

Then, look for the next corner piece you plan on solving. Look at it, just focus on it no matter what, do not look at any other cubie, ESPECIALLY not the ones you are going to solve.

Now solve the previous F2L pair WHILE focusing on the next F2L corner piece. It's easier not to look at them when you have something else to focus on. You should be able to do the motions easily without looking if you really solve F2L pairs with closed eyes, and aren't just still imagining it and following the pieces mentally.

If you find that you cannot seem to follow the movement of the corner piece that you are watching,
SLOW DOWN. Even if you have to slow down to 3 turns per second (or less), it's fine.

Now that the previous F2L pair is solved, before solving this next corner with it's paired edge, look for a new corner, and so forth. Then do the last F2L pair at full speed.
Soon, when you can do it fast, try tracking 2 corners, then 3, then start tracking pairs. You'll soon find your mind automatically tracking all four pairs right off the bat after the cross.
