It took me a while to get round to this, but I think I've posted little enough to still be considered a novice here.

So, here we go. I'm Hwee-Chong, from the Netherlands. If you have trouble with my name, I will also answer to HC, as most people tend to call me. I've been cubing for a year now, but only recently started going to competitions. I started off with the beginners method from Conrad Rider's website. My first solve took me about 15 minutes, but after a few months I went down to 2:30, before I moved on to Badmephisto's website and swapped to his beginners method. This brought me down to around 2 minutes and I pretty much stayed there until I got my GuHong, which straight away knocked about 40 seconds off my times. At the moment I'm using CFOP with 4 look LL and I'm now in the process of learning full PLL.

My unofficial PBs are 28.93 on the 3x3, 7.15 on the 2x2 and 4:53.35 on the 4x4 which I've started solving a week ago. My official times can be found on my WCA profile :-)

At the moment, I've got 3 3x3 cubes, a Rubik's storebought, Guhong and a ZhanChi, 2 2x2s, LanLan and Ghosthand, which is pretty much broken and a ShengShou v3 4x4.

When I'm not cubing, I like to play guitar and write on my blog, although I haven't written on it for a while now. I also hope to write on the blog here, mainly about competitions I've been to. So far I've been to the Dutch Open, of which a blog is already written and available in the blog section, the Spols Open and next week I'll be going to the Dutch Nationals, of which you can expect a report soon after, provided it will get through the moderation :-)

Okay, I think I've taken enough of your precious time now so I'll let you continue doing whatever you were doing. I hope to see many of you at competitions. For now, I will of course be concentrating on comps nearby in the Netherlands and Belgium, but who knows you'll see me a bit further afield.

Thanks. Yes, I've considered getting a 5x5 and I will at some point. But first I want to bring to 4x4 times to at least sub 3 minutes average and be able to solve it without looking up the parity algs. One step at a time you know....

What type of guitar do you have? What brand is it? Is it your only one? What do you play? What is your favorite kind of music? I ask this because I myself play guitar.

You should participate in the race to sub 30 to motivate you to get better, once you graduate from that you should participate in the race to sub 20 and after that when you graduate you should participate in my thread.3x3 Race 15/12/10/8.

Hello HC , nice to hear from you.
I have not been cubing since an year or anything, but at this stage, as you are learning full PLL and stuff. I would like to suggest a few things as someone who went through this stage some time ago and learnt from my mistakes. Firstly, choose your algs wisely, go through multiple algs, see what fast people use(for PLLs, see sergey ryabko, breandan vallance, feliks of course, apart from the obvious speedsolving wiki), and see what suits your cubing style. Let me know if you want links to those . Also try to make more use of your inspection time, FOCUS a lot on turning smoothly and always trying to make full use of 15 seconds inspection and looking ahead apart from trying to make less rotations in f2l, these things are not that important now, but in your later stages will help you a lot, trust me, a lot.
Also , if you have any video of playing guitar, i would love to see it, apart from your blog.
