Hey!

My name’s Emma and I’m 16 years old. I’m from Belgium.

I was gifted a Rubik’s cube a few days ago and promptly learned a beginner’s technique. I had no idea there was such a huge community around cubing! It’s amazing!

Having never really had a hobby, I’m hoping to turn cubing into my first. I think it would really help me fight the boredom I often face and it will challenge me in ways school currently does not, hence my boredom. And if I make friends in this community, that would be a welcome bonus :)

The only technique I currently know is the one that starts with the white daisy, but I’ve started learning the CFOP technique. I’m still a slow cuber. My high score, with the white daisy technique, after two days of practice, is 2:01 minutes. So I set a goal for myself: I have to be able to complete a rubik’s cube in less than 1 minute come my birthday on February 19. Don’t be afraid to hold me accountable, haha!

Emma.

Welcome! I’m sure you can achieve your one minute goal by February, some people could get to sub 20 with dedicated practising! Plus, be sure to check out other methods other than CFOP :) Roux, ZZ and Petrus are good methods to look into.

Will do, thanks!

Welcome to the community. I just started out during the summer and six months down the line I am nearly sub 20 seconds. Your goal is definitely reachable. I suggest getting a big database early on. There are many great resources for all your cubing needs. Just to name a few:
J Perm - YouTube and Website
Cube skills - website by Feliks Zemdegs
The speedsolving wiki
Cyotheking - Website and YouTube

This is just to name a few. If you ever need help just ask questions on this forum. We have a big community here to help.
