Hello! I'm Charlotte (but everyone just calls me Charlie) and I'm 22 years old from the UK. I have been cubing since I was 15 but have only just gotten into speedcubing in the last year or so. I had always had an unsolved cube just sitting on my desk for many years so one day I decided I would learn how to do it by looking up methods.
I got more into cubing because I quickly realised that it seemed to help with my anxiety around people - People would see me solving a cube and it piqued their curiosity, they couldn't help but talk to me and ask questions, it certainly helped since my biggest problem was starting conversations and it was the easiest way for me to make friends at school
So as you can imagine, cubing has done quite a lot for me!
I practice with a variety of puzzles (megaminx, mirror cube, pyraminx etc. etc.) but I will mainly practice with 3x3s (and the bigger cubes occasionally). My times range in the mid 20-low 30 second range, and my personal best is 21 seconds (it was quite a while ago so I never noted down the exact time). I lose a lot of time during F2L so my main area of improvement will be learning faster ways of getting through that, as well as utilising finger tricks and just generally working on faster ways for each step
Unfortunately, where I live, it very much feels like I am the only cuber around here (but hopefully not!) so I'm very excited about getting to know the community here
