hiho folks!
I'm 19 and live in austria (the little country in europe with mountains, snow and joddeling
)
I've started cubing about 3 weeks ago. Someone in my school brought a rubiks cube with him and i remembered seeing one of those objects lying around at my house since i can think.
First, i just wanted to solve it once to achieve this indescribable feeling of success.
I started of with watching beginner method-video to actually figure out how that thing works. So i did it over and over again, replaced my old shitty cube with a brand new one. Once day my dad even brought me some silicone spray, since i cryed around that petroleum jelly and graphit messed up the cube rather then make it smoother
Well, so about 3 weeks since i've done my first cube, i've somehow improved in speed. I use the following steps to solve my cubi: cross (i always start of with white), then use the f2l of the fridrich method, and finally cross on top, allign sides and then do the corners. My average has dropped to about 1:10-1:30 (my best was 0:52, i got lucky somehow).
Eventhough i have my final exams coming up, i was willing to spend some time to learn some algorythms - it somehow got a bit boring doing it the same old way, over and over again.
so i try to do the last layer in a 3-look OLL (i found a video about that in some other forum) and then 2-look PLL - i can do it, not too fast though (still rather slows me down than improves my times)
Anyhow, does anybody of you know a technique or solving methode which can improve my time without having to learn like 60 algorythms?
It's not the problem to learn them, but as a said, exams coming up etc.
Also i would rather enjoy understanding the cube, than learning an algorythm for every single situation that can occur on the last layer.
So what are your experiences - how did you get to where you are now (i bet there are some superfast cubers among you
). any tips, tricks? or should i forget speedcubing coz i (at the moment) cant be bothered to learn algos off by heart?
Well, thanks for reading and peace out!
