Have you ever quit or taken breaks from Cubing?

Back in 2020 i took a 3-4month long break. It was prob just puberty or something cuz I lost interest in everything. All I wanted to do was play fortnite 😂. I’m currently taking a break. The only thing I’m “practicing” is 7x7 but like I only do 5 solves every other day or so. I’m busy studying math for my engineering degreee. Around summer I plan to hop back to improving more. I’ll buy myself some new puzzle in May and get cracking. After I’m off to college in September, I assume that’s when I’ll put all my cubes in my room and say farewell for a bit to grinding.

Multiple times, usually for months. Because of work, stress, and wanting spending any remaining free time with family, I regularly lose interest. But I cannot imagine to stop cubing for good. I recently started to play with FTO, and I quite enjoy it, I even ordered a few new puzzles, and do a few solves as mental breaks during work.

I finally became sub 10 last yr and then suddenly took a 5 month break sending my avg somewhere...after a lot of grinding im finally back to a 9.67 avg

I’ve never took an entire like no cubing at all break longer than 10 days since I started but the amount of cubing I do has significantly decreased in the past year and a half or so.
I don’t see myself ever completely quitting but I am aware that the amount I cube will continue to decrease especially next year (junior year 🪦🪦🪦).
I’m hoping to still be cubing a little in college but at this point who knows. I really enjoy cubing but I have priorities such as running, work, school, and a social life.

I had a couple of months off after I cut my finger. I went about a third of the way through it, and the doctor said he could see the tendon—another millimeter or two and I probably would have had movement issues later. I also had to get five stitches.
On the bright side, because of that injury I got into skewb, since it was the only event I was still okay at once it healed. Now I’m almost pro!

I learned how to solve a cube back in like (I think) 2023. I got to averaging maybe 50-60s using the begginers method. I don’t think I cubed much not long after 2024 started before I decided to start learning CFOP back in late 2024
Yoooo I started learning CFOP around the same time as you! Only got to sub-20 around April this year though so my progress was slow to start. Right now I'm cooking up 14 second ao200s and I'm trying to get a sub-15 ao1000.
It's crazy that you are averaging faster in comp than my PR single with pretty much the same amount of time since you started 💀

I got coaching and went from 30 seconds to 20 seconds, also for some reason I’m more locked in in comps probably because I’m focusing on 5 solves instead of like ~100 solves in practice sessions. (ignore aus nats 2nd round it was the organisers’ fault)
