Hello! I am competely new to the cubeing world having only just solved a cube for my first time on Sunday. I was so excited that I started researching cubeing and found out about speedcubeing, which interested me so much that I bought the Rubik's Speed Cube Pro Pack the next day (When I bought it I did not realize there were other types of cubes, so I hope it will be a good beginner's speedcube).

Some of my other hobbies are playing the classical guitar and I'm currently building a classical guitar. I am also very active in 4-H.

When I recieve my cube, how should I go about breaking it in? Should I immediately lube it or wait a while? Any tips on tensioning? Thanks!

Rubik's speed cube will do fine for now, but there are definitely better cubes. As for lube, i would give it about 150-200 solves before lubing. Tensioning is relatively self-explanatory. If it's too tight, loosen it, and adjust all sides until you like it and theyre even.

so I hope it will be a good beginner's speedcube).
Should I immediately lube it or wait a while?

I bought that cube too and it is almost as fast as my weilong (time-wise). I would lube it straight away, using either CRC silicone (red can, on amazon) or Traxxas 30k differential oil.

Welcome to the community!

Thanks for all of the answers, I think I'm really going to enjoy cubeing.

Why do some people say wait 100 solves before lubing and others say to lube it right away?(Pretty big contradiction there, and as I'm new, I really don't know what's better...)
Is there anything wrong with the lube that Rubik's provides?

Also, does popping weaken the cube?(I know the Rubik's Speed Cube is antipopping, but I was wondering about other cubes)?
