My phone doesn’t even have a strap... Guess it’s the DIY way, or duct tape for me...

this may sound stupid but i have always wondered how they take those first person recordings in videos during speed solves.

Besides the headstrap, you can also use a tripod to point down at the table/cube from above. That's how I record mine - a tripod hooked to the front of my desk pointing down. I have to rotate the footage 180 degrees but it's otherwise perfect.
