FS: Custom Made Magnetic 3x3x3

Very nicely done. I was considering looking into buying some magnets to put in an eastsheen 2x2x2 or 4x4x4, to reduce lockups by automatically aligning the layers.

You think this might work?

Try 2x2 first, coz it would be a waste of a 4x4, but you can get ES 2x2's in Australia for $7, which converts to about $4.50 US.

It would probably make it much slower to solve. Do the mini diansheng mod for your 2x2.

I was thinking that it might have a more beneficial effect on the 4x4x4, with the extra layers and an insane locking up ability.

Also, I'm british and I know a great shop that sells Eastsheen 4x4x4's, so I can get hold of them easily-ish.

I don't think it would work at all with even cubes, actually. Think about it - all magnets have a given polarity, and opposites attract, right? So on (say) a 2x2, if you wanted two corners to attract each other, one magnet would have to point "in" and the other would have to point "out". But if each corner had ins and outs then you could easily end up with two "in" or two "out" magnets pointing towards each other, which would repel. The reason this works so well on the 3x3 is that corners are always next to edges and so on, and like pieces are never next to each other, so you can just have all the corner ones be "out" and all the edge ones be "in" and so on.

Was it hard getting the polarities?

It was. First thing I did was connect all the magnets making a long shaft, then I took a sharpie and marked the same side of every magnet. I may not have labelled the polarities correctly, but it worked. Haha.

0:22 of the video made me think cheating would be easy on this one, lol.

Nevertheless, great job.
