juz being curious.. is it better to decide on corner u want to find, then find it?
or just find a c/e, then decide its location?

i hope i'm making sense =P

HI, me again :)

It's better to find the corner/edge pair, and then know where you need to solve it. With experience you will be able to know exactly where all your F2L slots are and solve them very quickly, but for the meantime, just find your c/e pair, then decide where they have to go and solve them

hi, u seem to be very active today xD actually, first day seeing u post in this forum O.o

do u mean solving pairing up the c/e with your left hand and stuff? and using mirror alg to minimise cube rotation?

hmm...
Are you talking about whether to find the corner or edge first for a pair?

Originally, I found a corner with the cross layer, then found the edge with the other 2 colors of that corner. Now, I'm working on finding the cross and edge at the same time. If you already know PLL and OLL, I'd reccomend just working on finding both the edge and the corner together.

well no, I didn't state this, but if you are able to do that without much training then it is a bonus :) Joel van Noort said to me, and I agree with him, that cube rotations aren't bad, it's just when they are in the middle of an F2L alg that they should be avoided. Inbetween F2L cases, it's fine.

hmm.. im still having difficulty doing f2l+cross in 11 seconds.. average is around 14seconds now.. and 11 very occasionally.. how to break 20 like that?
my breakdown:
cross 3 sec
f2l 11 sec
oll 3-5sec
pll 3-5 sec
total: 20-24
real best average 22.55

so my last layer can vary from 6-10 seconds..

another question: is it really good to practise solving cross blindfolded? i can do it, but when i solve it again with my eyes open, i still cant take my mind away from the cross moves to find the c/e ):

Here is my usual breakdown, so you are not really so far behind
Cross 2 sec
F2L 8 sec
OLL 2 sec
PLL 3 sec

Total 15

Looks like you need to work on your LL more than anything to get under 20. Yes, it is great practise to solve the cross blindfolded, and you just have to learn to not follow the pieces, it will come with experience. Also make sure you only have a max 15 secs inspection, and that yoiu don't look at the cube between putting it down, and picking it up again (maybe look for one sec before picking up) to simulate a competition condition.

i not really so far behind? thats great comfort =D

looks like i juz need to work on recognition of LL.. i just finished all the OLL except for two.. and still not very familiar with lightningbolts with a dot.
ok thanks a lot ^_^

chue i had almost exactly same times as you, and I just got my DIY cubes a few days ago, and I decreased my times by 2 seconds on average only just by using those. If you don't already use a DIY cube, you might wanna get one... It's one easy way of pushing yourself a huge step down... Considering especially that decreasing average by a single second now takes several weeks.
