ok so i started to use fridrich F2L today and i got a time of 1:24, and i am not that great at pairing edges yet so i think i can get a better time..... right??

is this normal for your times to increase while doing a new method? (i probably sound crazy asking this..)

(also i dont know if this goes into this section or the beginners section)

Your times should increase quite quickly for a while, and then probably start evening out increasing less. That is what happened to me.

I learned F2L when I got to 46 seconds average with my first method, but when I started, I got like 1:05. After a week or two of practice, I got down to 45 seconds average again.
Right now, I am using F2L and getting sub-30.

Given this, you probably just need to practice :)

Em.........I am learning Fridrich F2L too. My time increases a lot too. But practices make perfect, so I don't think you need to worry much.

when i first got started with f2l i jumped back to above a minute as well, and then went down rapidly next few days of lot of practice :)

Yeah my times definitely increased when I first started using F2L, but now I'm down to a 24 second average :). Practice practice practice

I'm not sure if CE pairing is necessary. What you want to do, is just corners then edges, and if you see an easy CE pair, just slip it in. Slowly integrate CE pairs into your F2L, learning them intuitively. I could solve a cube sub-30 using corners first, then edges, no problem. You will take greater leaps in speed by lots of practise, not by changing your method.

EDIT: Just quickly did a solve: 27 seconds.

At the top of this subforum, in the sticky threads. Or else, many sites will have lists as well. This is probably the best source, but if an algorithm isn't working for you, ask around.

When I switched from lbl to friedich I didn't time myself for 3 months while I practiced it and learned all the pll and olls. I know I was slower but I wanted to concentrate on learning it well and work on speed later. The first time I timed myself afterwards I had dumped 45 seconds off my average and 55 off my best time. Be patient and really concentrate on learning for a while.
