Excellent Quality Beginner Videos

So, I just used this series of YouTube videos to learn a(n) LBL method. The video's are of excellent quality but only have an average of about 60 views each. To me it seems that these videos should be the de-facto series for beginners to watch.

However, I have a few questions about the method that they teach.

First off, if you don't want to watch the videos, this is the method:

------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Intuitive FL Cross
2. Intuitive FL Corners, using insertion
3. 2L Edges using U R U' R' U' F' U F / U' L' U L U F U' F'
4. Simplified 2-look OLL (at most a 4-look OLL)

Cross
  • F R U R' U' F'
  • f R U R' U' f
Edges
  • Sune
  • Anti-Sune (is this a common term?)
  • How to orient the cube to limit Sune/Anti-Sune use to 2
4. Simplified 2-look PLL (at most a 5-look PLL. he should have included U-Perm-b for at most a 4-look)

Corners
  • A-Perm-a x' R U' R D2 R' U R D2 R2
  • How to orient the cube for max of 2 A-Perm-a
Edges
  • U-Perm-a y2 R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2
  • How to orient the cube for max of 3 U-Perm-a
------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's my main question. I discovered on my own how to do U-Perm-b by mirroring this U-Perm-a alg to y2 L' U L' U' L' U' L' U L U L2. I don't see U-Perm-b written this way on the PLL Wiki. Why is this? Is this a slow way of doing U-Perm-b? Is it a bad way for finger tricks?

After using this series I have a sub 1:30 avg after 1 week of cubing.
This is my first time using cubing terminology, so drill me if I sound like a noob :3

No, it's actually a very fast alg, the one I use, in fact. They actually do have it on the wiki, however...
L2 U L U L' U' L' U' L' U L'
I think the one listed is the same alg, but just reversed and mirrored front to back.

BTW, is this the person I think it is?

Ok, I had to solve to a U-Perm-b case in order to visualize that, but I got it now. I'm glad to hear that someone uses the reflected/mirrored version of that one :) Btw, does both reflecting and mirroring an alg always produce the same result? (or does this only work for corner algs or something?)

Also, I'm probably not the person you're thinking of (I'm 18), unless you know me from another forum.

I'd still like to know if "anti-sune" is a common term.

Yeah, people use 'Anti-Sune' all the time.

Using the mirrored/reflected version of an alg will always produce the same result, but mirrored/reflected accordingly.

Too bad that you weren't the person I was thinking of... lol

Good job BTW on finding those tutorials. They are quite a gem.

Tell me about it, my first solve was after watching Dan Brown. Immediately I knew that I was getting into bad habits and searched for a better LBL series.

My next goal is to learn 2-look OLL

His video titles are crap. Non-cubers who want to learn the cube type in things like, "How do you solve the rubics cube," (or other spellings).

This guy calls them 3x3, which only cubers would call them. It also doesn't say in the title, "How to solve a ...".

Most people who can't solve the cube will find Pogobat's or Badmephisto's video.

Yup, they were a lucky find when I thought I was going to skip straight to F2L lol.
