Euro Championships Registration Controversy

In all honesty, Champs like these should have honorary spots for the top solvers. So say for instance registration filled really quick, like this, Tymon would have a spot and wouldn't have to worry about not making registry. If there were to be an instance that said top solver can't make it, they can open that spot to someone on the waiting list.
This is what i was basically saying

honestly i think it's partly their fault for not registering immediately when the registration opened. 2 hours is quite a while and if they had been 'camping' at the registration page they probably would have made it. although, 1000 people in 2 hours is indeed very very impressive, so i'm definitely not blaming them for not getting in.
I would say 2 hours is way too short especially for a big championship; a lot of people because of time zones would have jobs or school, or simply be asleep, and the added problem of the website not being able to handle that much traffic and throwing sometimes confusing errors wouldn’t have helped (I regged only 15 minutes after it opened, and I got spot 682/1000 for context).

you have a point.

ig i thought 2 hours was long because competitions here in singapore (not championships, this is just where i'm coming from), especially those with the popular events, sell out super quick. one competition last november had 100 spaces filled up in 1 minute and 21 seconds iirc

1000 people is a completely different story though, and i get where youre coming from about the time difference and everything.

I remember a comp in CalPoly had all 60 spots fill up in around 40 seconds or so. Ridiculous, but now it’s better

Yea i remember that comp. I went out of town with my family, I told my dad to register, and he registered within a minute but it was too late. Luckily I made it through the waitlist, but I was the last person to make it in.

I agree with the goal of the video but he picked on random people for no reason. The South African solver has good clock times and the Indian solver is ranked 97th in the world. Not really "Mediocre".
Here is one of the comments on that video:
