DIY cubes

I also think that the actually material the cube is made of makes a difference; my orange cube feels especially different from my red and white ones, which also feel different from each other (all A cubes). It feels like the orange one is made of a softer plastic, while the red one is made out of a very hard one.

im considering buying a couple of diy's from cube4you. does the type of plastic affect your cubing? i was gonna order a black and a white type a diy, but if an orange or red one would work better than either or both, i'd rather get those.

I have a green one that I really like but no other colors to compare it to. The plastic definitely has a softer feel than my store bought cube. But it is much quieter for in class cubing :-) I use the DIY over my store bought for everything except OH which i only use the DIY 99% of the time.

Ideally you order one of each and experiment; it all depends on personal preference. I really liked my orange one, but after playing almost exclusively with my 25th anniversary for a month, I prefer red over it.

White and black aren't bad cubes, though, so it's not a bad choice if you decide on only getting those.

thanks for the advice guys. i'll probably end up getting one of the diy kit package sales now. not sure if i'll need that many cubes, but i can probably give away my least favorite ones for christmas presents or something. thanks again.
